Acetylsalicylic-acid (ASA) intolerance is well recognized as a possible cause for exacerbating asthma. It has been postulated that if this could be overcome, long-term aspirin administration could improve asthma symptoms and enable reduction of the use of other anti-asthmatic drugs. We succeeded in inducing an ASA tolerance in nine corticosteroid-dependent asthmatics, and this tolerance lasted at least 1 month and at most 1 year. The investigations were carried out on 36 atopic asthma patients treated with a specific allergen vaccine--Allpyral. The serum immunoglobulin levels, specific IgE blocking antibodies were determined by various immunological methods. House dust allergy is a well known cause of bronchial asthma. VOORHORST and his team found, that the house dust mite is the most important allergen of house dust. We found in 17.2% of our patients a sensitization to house dust or house dust mite. The value of history, skin tests, bronchial provocation tests with house dust and RAST with mite allergen and house dust is discussed. Finally the results of hyposensitization with Migen in 52 patients are reported.

Patients with limited skin involvement by mycosis fungoides were treated with daily topical mechlorethamine. Seven of thirteen patients had a complete remission of diseases. Six of these seven experienced a contact dermatitis and four underwent a successful topical desensitization programme. The possible beneficial therapeutic effects of developing a contact allergy are discussed.
