Bleeding Meckel's diverticulum tends to be a complication of ectopic gastric mucosa. It has been known that the gastric acid and digestive fluid produced from the ectopic gastric mucosa cause peptic ulcer, which leads to bleeding. When the ectopic gastric mucosa is entirely formed by the pyloric gland, however, ulcer formation may result from factors other than gastric acid and digestive fluid. Gastric diverticuli are rare entities that may present with a variety of vague abdominal symptoms. Diagnosis requires endoscopic and radiologic evaluation preceded by clinical suspicion. This is the first report describing the laparascopic excision of a gastric diverticulum. A description of this procedure and suggestions for the workup of gastric diverticuli are presented.

We report the case of a 31-year-old man with lower abdominal pain, leucocytosis and normal sonographic findings. When performing laparoscopy we found a Meckel's diverticulum perforated by a toothpick. Meckel's diverticulum is the most common congenital abnormality of the gastrointestinal tract. Diverticulitis of the vermiform appendix is an often disregarded disease. Diagnosis follows after appendectomy due to inflammatory complications in the form of diverticulitis and appendicitis. Diverticula can also be found as a reason for complaints in histologically unaltered appendix or as an incidental finding. Diverticula of the vermiform appendix are classified as false (acquired) or true (congenital). We report on the case of a 57-year-old man with a perforated appendix diverticulum as reason for peritonitis and a paralytic ileus of the colon and small intestine.

We report a case of perforated diverticulitis of the transverse colon. The preoperative diagnosis of perforated appendicitis was made on the basis of findings of both ultrasonography and CT. At surgery, an inflammatory mass resembling carcinoma was found in the transverse colon, and segmental resection was then performed. Diverticulitis of the transverse colon is rare, and there have been few reports in the English-language medical literature. This report describes a true diverticulum of the transverse colon that presented as acute diverticulitis.

As the use of and familiarity with minimally invasive surgery continue to increase in general surgery, the laparoscopic management of symptomatic and asymptomatic Meckel's diverticulum will become more commonplace. A case of symptomatic Meckel's diverticulum is presented here to discuss operative decisions and laparoscopic options, specifically the use of frozen section to assure complete resection of any ectopic tissue present.

A case of Meckel's diverticulum is reported in an eight-day-old male baby, the youngest patient to have had this condition at National Taiwan University Hospital. The baby had been affected by bilious vomiting of 3 days' duration and abdominal distension before being brought to the hospital. A perforated Meckel's diverticulum was found during emergency laparotomy. The resected Meckel's diverticulum did not contain ectopic tissue. The narrow lumen and narrow base of the diverticulum was thought to be the cause of poor self-emptying and subsequent acute inflammation and perforation.

Nephrogenic adenoma is a rare proliferative response of urothelium to chronic irritation or infection. It has been reported to occur in various locations in the urinary tract, including the renal pelvis, ureter, bladder and urethra, and within an ileal conduit. We report our experience with this lesion occurring in a bladder diverticulum.

OBJECTIVES: To develop a new technique to repair congenital and acquired megaurethra without opening the enlarged urethra.
METHODS: A urethral plication similar to the Starr ureteral plication was developed, which allows the urethra to be plicated without opening into the lumen. This technique also allows the operation to be done in conjunction with hypospadias repairs.

Due to the rarity of choledochal cystic dilatation, the authors report a clinical case of common bile duct diverticulum. This diverticulum was histologically composed of gastric ectopic mucosa (pyloric type) and it clinically caused chronic abdominal pain (in a young woman).
