We describe a case of a triplex system in a 4-year-old girl that was associated with a ureterocele and vesicoureteric reflux and causing symptomatic culture-proven urinary tract infections. Undetected on preoperative ultrasound imaging and micturating cystourethrogram, this was discovered at the time of a planned left heminephrectomy. The redundant system having been removed the patient is now asymptomatic.

A case of leiomyoma of urinary bladder, a rare benign tumor, is presented. The patient was a 45-year-old woman with long duration history of dysuria. Intravenous urography (IVU), ultrasound (US), computed tomography (CT) and biopsy diagnosed this case accurately. The clinical presentation, imaging findings and management of this benign tumor are discussed.

The specific feature of this case presented is the prolonged clinical manifestations of cystitis despite long-term and diversified antibacterial therapy. Repeated ultrasonography was justifiable in this cases since it could reveal a cause of protracted cystitis. Thus, in the young child long-term dysuria and urinary infection may be caused by a bladder foreign body.

We discuss a case of newly diagnosed tethered cord syndrome (TCS) in a 24-year-old woman who presented with dysuria, hematuria, and urinary retention. Physical exam revealed hyperreflexic lower extremity deep tendon reflexes. MRI showed filum terminale terminating in a lipoma, consistent with TCS. We discuss the role of MRI in the workup of adults with bladder dysfunction.

Nine patients with severe dysuria caused by prostatic cancer received prostatic microwave coagulation under intraoperative real-time ultrasonic scanning. During the procedure, the microwave applicator was clearly observed, and the coagulation region appeared as an hyperechoic area compared to the noncoagulated region. Intraoperative real-time ultrasonic scanning allowed safer and more efficacious application of prostatic microwave coagulation.

Two cases of patients with cystitis cystica secondary to urine infection, caused by resistant corynebacterium D2, are presented. The clinical features were important dysuria and frequency, alkaline urine Ph (Ph 8 and 9). The urine cultures were obtained with the standard techniques, after 72 hours of incubation. They were treated with vancomycin, ciprofloxacin and hydroxinamic acid with good response.

Parameatal glans cyst is unusual and only a few cases reported until currently. We presented a four-year-old boy with dysuria and inappropriate appearance of parameatal glans cyst. The cystic mass was slow-growing and was present since birth. Complete surgical excision was performed to prevent recurrencies and to achieve good cosmesis.

Bladder stones occasionally develop due to foreign body in the bladder. A 45-year-old woman, who had had an intrauterine contraceptive device inserted 10 years earlier, presented with dysuria, frequency and voiding difficulty with suprapubic pain. The intrauterine device was found in the bladder with stone formation and was removed by cystoscopic procedure.

A 51 year-old man was admitted to our hospital with poor general health and neurological disturbances with paresthesia, dysuria and defecation disorder. Neuroimaging showed a syringomyelia cyst from C1 to conus medullaris, together with a intramedullar tumoral mass in T6-T7. Histological examination of the surgical specimen led to the diagnosis of lipomatous ependymoma.

A 78-year-old man with mild diabetes presented with dysuria and frequency of urination of 15 months' duration subsequent to urinary catheterization for cataract surgery. Multiple urine specimens revealed the presence of considerable quantities of yeast that were later identified as Candida lusitaniae. The patient responded well to irrigation of the bladder with amphotericin B.
