Crafting veteran to baccalaureate nursing programs.

Upon leaving the military, veteran health care personnel have difficulty finding commensurate civilian employment, yet their military transcripts document a strong record of health care education and experience. Vigorous Veterans' Bachelor of Science in Nursing (VBSN) programs can provide military personnel with opportunities to become registered nurses. This article describes the incremental planning, curriculum design, prior-learning evaluation option implementation, and student veteran results from one VBSN program with a ten-year history of successful, sustainable delivery. Formation of a

Infant mortality and mother's education in Ondo State, Nigeria.

A bivariate analysis of infant mortality in the 1986/87 Ondo State Demographic and Health Survey data indicates that children of secondary school graduates experienced a higher rate of infant mortality than children of less educated mothers. Although this pattern has also been shown in a few other Demographic and Health Surveys, this paper explores the Ondo State data to explain why infant mortality showed such a counterintuitive pattern in relation to maternal education. This search for an explanation of the pattern started with an examination of the data for errors and then proceeded to exam

Optimizing the Role of Doctor of Nursing Practice-Prepared Perioperative Nurses in Quality and Safety.

Surgical care is becoming more complex, and hospitals are under amplified pressure to improve quality and prevent harm. Ongoing sentinel events, such as wrong-site surgery and retained surgical items, indicate that important safety errors persist and require system-level solutions. Doctor of nursing practice (DNP)-prepared perioperative nurses are well positioned to lead system-level improvements by using evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and implementation science to translate research into practice and develop sustainable improvements over time. This article describes how DNP-pre

Person-centred PhD supervision in health sciences: A co-created model.

BACKGROUND: In a health care context, person-centred care proceeds from the person's individual values, needs and experiences. In an educational context, PhD supervision similarly ought to proceed from the PhD student's perspective and situation. However, there is limited knowledge about aspects of importance to accomplish this. AIM: The aim of this study was to explore PhD students' and supervisors' perspectives on person-centred PhD supervision and collaboratively develop a conceptual model that enhances understanding and practice. DESIGN: The study had a descriptive, exploratory design.

Preparing residents and fellows for armed conflict and war settings: a scoping review protocol of educational programmes.

INTRODUCTION: Armed conflict and war increasingly strain healthcare systems worldwide, particularly in regions affected by protracted violence and instability. Physicians practising in war settings must deliver care under conditions of insecurity, resource scarcity and health system disruption, yet graduate medical education (GME) largely prepares trainees for stable, high-resource environments. Residents and fellows are often underprepared for the clinical, ethical and operational challenges of armed conflict. This scoping review aims to map and synthesise the existing literature on education

Designing contextually relevant emergency medicine simulation-based learning experiences for paediatric specialist training in South Africa: a narrative review.

Pediatric trainees in South Africa must acquire competence in managing life-threatening conditions to qualify as specialists, although limited supervision, inconsistent feedback in clinical settings, high clinical workloads, and local healthcare realities often impede learning. Simulation-based learning experiences (SBLEs) provide a safe environment for deliberate practice, feedback, and reflective learning. A South African university introduced time during the academic postgraduate program for simulation-based training for pediatric emergency medical conditions. The aim was to design context-

The Validity, Accuracy, and Comprehensiveness of Artificial Intelligence for Generating Resident Educational Material and Discussion Guides.

INTRODUCTION: The current education of plastic surgery residents is hamstrung by reliance on outmoded teacher-learner methods including the incorporation of a passive system of lectures and talks into the formal conferences. The hypothesis was that artificial intelligence (AI), if trained, could generate satisfactory topical, specific subject, faculty-resident conference discussions or guides. METHODS: Three topics, namely, breast reduction, frontal sinus fracture, and flexor tendon injury, were selected, and an AI platform was trained with a vetted bibliography to generate discussion guides.

Artificial intelligence and the education of future surgeons.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to reshape surgical education by enabling personalized feedback, advanced competency evaluations, and enhancing resident selection processes. Through AI-driven simulations and real-time feedback systems, surgical trainees can engage in adaptive learning environments that promote deliberate practice and accelerated skill acquisition. Moreover, intraoperative AI tools may soon offer decision support, guiding surgeons during complex procedures. However, integrating AI into surgical education and practice comes with significant challenges. These inclu

Geriatricians Leading Innovation: Collaborating to Enhance Care as We Age.

In the early 20th century, Geriatric Medicine emerged as a specialty with a focus on improving the health and quality of life of older adults. Almost since inception, geriatricians have worked in collaboration with other medical specialties and health professionals to achieve this goal. This focus on collaboration has led to innovations that are improving care for older adults across settings of care, some of which are being led by other specialties (e.g., the Geriatric Surgery Verification Program). In 2015, Geriatric Medicine began to recruit fellows through the National Resident Matching Pr

Graduate student perspectives on training and clinical experiences with antagonism treatment.

The objective of this preregistered study was to gather evidence on training and clinical experiences offered by clinical psychology doctoral programs on the treatment of antagonism-a construct from the personality and psychopathology literature that captures individual differences in aggressiveness, callousness, grandiosity, domineering, and manipulativeness. We surveyed current graduate students (N = 376) in APA-accredited clinical psychology doctoral programs (Mage = 28.4; 83.2% female; 65.2% White) about their experiences in training and treatment of antagonistic patients (ANT-patients) as
