INTRODUCTION: Taking care of newborn skin is necessary to avoid skin infections. The normal daily exposure to external factors affects the skin negatively. Skin hygiene and proper skin cleansing as well as protection of the infant skin barrier are essential to maintain barrier function and overall infant health.
AIM: The aim of this work is to assess the neonatal skin care effectiveness in promotion of normal skin development and protection of the optimal skin function by avoiding the different neonatal skin disorders which cause skin infection.
CONCLUSION: In conclusion, proper care and goo

INTRODUCTION: This mono-center randomized, controlled, double-blind study evaluates the safety and efficacy of MD2011001 cream versus placebo, in mild-to-moderate atopic dermatitis (AD). MD2011001 is a nonsteroidal topical cream containing vitamin E, epigallocatechin gallate and grape seed procyanidins.
METHODS: Patients with AD (corresponding to an IGA score of 2 or 3), involving the face, the perioral/periocular area and/or the neck, were enrolled. Patients were randomized 1:1 ratio to receive MD2011001 or placebo before the start of the study (D0), then evaluated after 7 days, and after 28

A crucial role of the epidermal permeability barrier is obvious in contact dermatitis. An intact skin barrier prevents the penetration of harmful substances into the skin. Irritants and allergens that stay on the skin surface and come into contact with the stratum corneum only do not harm the skin. After disruption of the skin barrier, however, irritants may penetrate into the living epidermal layers, injure the keratinocyte membrane, and release cytokines, which leads to inflammation and to irritant contact dermatitis. The skin barrier is often disrupted by chronic exposure to water plus dete

Sucrose cocoate (SL-40), an emulsifier employed in emollient, skin-moisturizing cosmetic formulations, contains a mixture of sucrose esters of coconut fatty acids in aqueous ethanol solution. In order to determine its potential utility in enhancing nasal and ocular drug delivery, absorption studies were performed in anesthetized Sprague-Dawley male rats with calcitonin and insulin, two distinct therapeutic peptides. Administration of a nasal insulin formulation containing 0.5% sucrose cocoate caused a rapid and significant increase in plasma insulin levels, with a concomitant decrease in blood

BACKGROUND: Radiation-induced skin injury (RISI) is a common dose-limiting toxicity of radiotherapy, characterized by erythema, desquamation … n-Induced Skin Reaction Assessment Scale (RISRAS). Conventional treatments like corticosteroids and emollients alleviate symptoms but do not prevent chronic damage. Novel therapies, including mesenchymal stem cells and mitochondrial-targeted antioxidants, show promise in reducing dermal injury and enhancing repair. Re-irradiated patients experience increased …

Atopic dermatitis has a substantial impact on sleep, appearance, psychological well-being, and other qualities of life. The visual appearance of lichenification, cheilitis, hyperpigmentation, ichthyosis, and erythema can be socially stigmatizing, and treatment of these symptoms is challenging. In managing pruritus in patients, practitioners should assess and document pruritus through questionnaires at each routine visit. Initially, practitioners should advise patients to employ nonpharmaceutical treatments such as emollients with wet wraps, elimination of triggers, changing scratching habits, …

The pathogenesis and severity … ortance in black patients includes low pH skin care products to protect the skin barrier along with emollients to diminish trans-epidermal water loss. Further mechanistic studies are needed to characterize racial differences in biomarkers and therapeutic targets of chronic itch.

BACKGROUND: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is associated with skin-barrier disruption, immune dysregulation, and application of emollients and topical medications that might predispose a person toward developing allergic contact dermatitis.
OBJECTIVE: To determine the predictors of allergic contact dermatitis and relevant allergens in AD.
METHODS: A retrospective chart review was performed for 502 adults (age ≥18 years) who were patch tested to an expanded allergen series during 2014-2017.
RESULTS: Overall, 108 (21.5%) had current AD and 109 (21.7%) had past AD. Patients with and without current AD…

Skin disorders associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) can markedly affect a patient's quality of life and can negatively impact their mental and physical health. Uremic pruritus, which is frequently encountered in patients with CKD, is considered to be an inflammatory systemic disease rather than a local skin disorder. Biomarkers of inflammation are increased in patients with uremic pruritus and an imbalance of the endogenous opioidergic system might be involved in the complex pathogenesis of the disease. Treatment options for uremic pruritus include emollients, topical capsaicin cream, …

BACKGROUND: Atopic dermatitis (AD), which causes eczema, dryness, and itching, is one of the most prevalent skin diseases in children. Along with topical corticosteroids and the liberal application of emollients, monoclonal antibodies have recently been used for systemic treatment in moderate to severe cases.
