PURPOSE: To report persisting corneal erosion and trichomegaly as ocular side effects of cetuximab (Erbitux) treatment, a monoclonal antibody against the epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor.
METHODS: A 62-year-old patient was treated with combined chemotherapy including cetuximab for colorectal carcinoma and showed accelerated growth of eyelashes with persistent bilateral corneal erosions resistant to conservative treatment. OBJECTIVE: We report on florid and unusual ophthalmic physical signs in three children where the trauma was caused by seeds from Avena fatua, a grass common in western North America.
DESIGN: Case series and literature review.
SETTING: Three local emergency departments (ED) during the fall of 1998.

PURPOSE: This retrospective study was performed to examine surgical results of five different techniques for lower eyelid margin reconstruction after Mohs surgery: primary closure, semicircular flap, dermal matrix graft, sliding tarsal flap, and tarsoconjunctival flap.

The autoimmune polyendocrinopathy-candidiasis-ectodermal dystrophy syndrome is characterized by the presence of chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, adrenal insufficiency, and hypoparathyroidism. Almost all patients have skin or nail findings early in the course of the disease. Therefore, the dermatologist is in the unique position of being able to identify patients with this syndrome early in its course and to facilitate careful monitoring of potentially lethal complications.

We describe a case of a 32-year-old man who presented with a visually apparent but otherwise asymptomatic mass in the right lateral fornix. Computerized tomography demonstrated the mass adjacent to the lacrimal gland. The mass was surgically removed, and histopathologic examination was consistent with a dacryolith of the lacrimal ductule. There were several cilia isolated from the dacryolith. This entity should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with a localized mass in the region of the lacrimal gland.

We report a male patient presenting with the association of absent lacrimal ducts, distichiasis, dysmorphic facial features and limb abnormalities. Extensive chromosomal studies showed normal chromosomes. We discuss differential diagnoses such as Setleis, Char and Lacrimo-Auriculo-Dento-Digital (LADD) syndromes. This may represent a novel entity for which parental consanguinity would support an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance.

A 71-year-old African-American man was treated with cryosurgery of the left lower lid for trichiasis. Dramatic depigmentation of the lid skin followed, including substantial pigment loss on the untreated upper lid. Pigmentation returned to nearly normal over a 9-year period. Depigmentation of the skin following cryosurgery is a well-known complication. The clinical course of the depigmentation, however, is not well demonstrated in the literature.
