OBJECTIVES: Confirmation of the endotracheal tube placement (CoETP) has the utmost importance in the management of an airway. Visualization of tracheal rings or carina with a fiber-optical bronchoscope (FOB) has considered to be a reliable method for the CoETP. BACKGROUND: Slow transit constipation (STC) is associated with colonic motor abnormalities. The underlying cause(s) of the abnormalities remain poorly defined. In health, utilizing high resolution fiber-optic manometry, we have described a distal colonic propagating motor pattern with a slow wave frequency of 2-6 cycles per minute (cpm). A high calorie meal caused a rapid and significant increase in this activity, suggesting the intrinsic slow wave activity could be mediated by extrinsic neural input. Utilizing the same protocol our aim was to characterize colonic meal response STC patients.

We demonstrate a technique that uses chandelier illumination during Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) in cases of severe bullous keratopathy. STUDY OBJECTIVES: To evaluate factors predicting the diagnostic yield of transbronchial biopsy (TBB) using endobronchial ultrasonography with a guide sheath (EBUS-GS) in small peripheral pulmonary lesions (PPLs) </= 30 mm in mean diameter.
DESIGN: Retrospective analysis.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: One hundred fifty-five consecutive patients with 158 small PPLs underwent TBB using EBUS-GS.
