Historically airguns were powerful weapons. Modern models, though less lethal, are still capable of inflicting serious or life threatening injuries. Current United Kingdom legislation fails to take into the account the capacity for airguns to maim and kill. We believe that airguns should be governed by the same law that applies to firearms. The aim of this study is to analyze the injury potential of the free-falling bullet in the cranium, which is known as a tired bullet in the public, with the finite element method (FEM) In the study, as penetrant 9 × 19 mm FMJ bullets with vertical falling angle, adult human skull and brain tissue were discussed. The results of the analysis with the Finite element method, which is similar to the cases reported before, revealed that free-falling bullets as a result of shooting into the air can cause fatal injuries.

The incidence and prevalence of firearm-related homicide in the United States make headlines daily. As a result, an epidemic of penetrating injuries is on the rise. Specifically, foreign bodies such as bullets and shrapnel are usually left inside the human body due to penetrating injuries, unless they are in close proximity to vital structures. We present a case of a bullet within the right atrial chamber of the heart, which was successfully removed by a minimally invasive endovascular approach.
