Pyogenic granuloma, or granuloma pyogenicum, is a common, tumor-like growth of the oral cavity or skin that is considered to be an exaggerated, localized connective tissue reaction to a minor injury or irritation. A total of five clinical cases of oral pyogenic granuloma were randomly selected in the age group between 26 and 41 years. All these cases were treated with sodium tetra decyl sulphate and examined for regression and reccurrence of the lesion for six months. Various treatment modalities consist of conservative surgical excision, cryosurgery, laser surgery and sclerotherapy. Sclerothe

A diverse group of the pathologic process can produce the enlargement of soft tissues in the oral cavity and often present a diagnostic challenge. This soft tissue enlargement may represent a variation of the normal anatomic structure, inflammatory reaction, cyst, neoplasm, and developmental anomalies. A group of reactive hyperplasias, which develop in response to chronic recurring tissue injury that stimulates an excessive tissue repair response. The pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a reactive enlargement that is an inflammatory response to local irritation such as calculus, a fractured tooth, roug

The authors present a case of Pyogenic Granuloma (PG) arising from the nasal septum in the posterior nasal cavity of a patient male sex, caucasian, 32 years old, with a previous history of cranioencephalic trauma, several neurosurgeries for different subsequent neurological problems and the use of a nasogastric tube for feeding (nasal intubation) during 30 days. He underwent surgery in St. Vincent de Paul Hospital (Rio de Janeiro) on May 18, 1993, for the tumor removal and straightening of the nasal septum. Under endoscopic guidance the complete excision of the tumor mass was perfectly done th

OBJECTIVE: Pyogenic granuloma is a common, acquired, vascular tumor of the skin in children, often ulcerates or bleeds, and is commonly localized to the face. The treatment of choice has been surgical removal, either by excision or shave, followed by electrocautery. The site, young age of the patient, and the inherent nature of surgical removal or electrocautery often make this procedure a traumatic experience. Also, surgical treatment usually leads to permanent scarring. Owing to the pulsed dye laser's ability to cause selective destruction of superficial capillary-sized cutaneous blood vesse

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) or lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH) is a benign vascular tumor characterized by rapid growth, nodular hyperplasia, and bleeding propensity. Though common on skin/oral mucosa, esophageal occurrence is rare. We report a 34-year-old male with recurrent acid reflux. Upper endoscopy (July 2022) revealed a 10-mm polypoid lesion above the esophagogastric junction, absent 13 months prior. It was successfully resected via endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) after submucosal saline injection, with histology confirming esophageal PG (LCH). Our literature review identified and ana

Pyogenic granuloma is a nonneoplastic inflammatory reactive hyperplasia commonly found in the soft tissues of the skin and oral mucosa. Oral pyogenic granulomas are usually found on the lips, gingiva, and tongue, but rarely on the palate. Surgical excision is the standard treatment for oral pyogenic granulomas. If it occurs on the palate, it is important to differentiate it from salivary gland tumors. Additionally, managing the disease with attention to recurrence is important. In this report, we present the case of a 66-year-old man who presented to the Department of Oral Diagnosis and Medici

This case report describes a rare occurrence of pyogenic granuloma (PG) in the hard palate deviating from its typical gingival location that led to the formation of an alveolar cleft. The aggressive growth pattern of the lesion, with atypical progression from a pedunculated nodule to an alveolar cleft, raised concern. The diagnosis was based on magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography findings, which revealed a tadpole-shaped lesion originating from the midline hard palate. The differential diagnosis included a minor salivary gland tumor. Surgical excision was performed under general

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a reactive connective tissue disorder with female predilection, which exhibits a tumor-like mass with occasional bleeding and superficial ulceration. It most commonly occurs in the maxillary gingiva followed by the mandibular gingiva. It can also occur in extra gingival sites like buccal mucosa, labial mucosa, and palate. There are two histopathological types of PG, namely, a lobular capillary hemangioma (LCH) variant and a non-LCH variant. The various management methods include surgical resection or laser excision along with deep curettage, and there are various non

BACKGROUND: Description of an abnormal corneal lesion as a complication of a clear corneal incision in cataract surgery.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 55-year-old woman presented, complaining of right eye pain and redness for 6 months, which started 1 month after her uncomplicated cataract surgery. On gross examination, the bulbar conjunctiva was hyperemic and a vascularized salmon-pink nodule with a smooth surface was noted over the supratemporal region of the cornea, just anterior to the previous superior corneal incision, with superficial feeder vessels originating from the adjacent conjunctiva tow

Pyogenic granuloma (PG), also known as lobular capillary hemangioma, is a common benign vascular proliferation of unclear etiology. The proposed etiology includes trauma, infection, and preceding dermatoses. All age groups and both sexes can be affected. It should be differentiated from malignant tumors such as amelanotic melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and spindle cell tumor. We present a case of recurrent significant bleeding from the abdominal wall mass requiring blood transfusion. Surgical excision is the recommended treatment. The aim of this report is to shed the light on this rare prese

Intravascular lobular capillary hemangioma (ILCH), or intravascular pyogenic granuloma, is relatively rare and likely underrecognized. We reviewed all ILCH cases from our institution confirmed pathologically from 2006 to 2019. Immunostains for smooth muscle actin and Wilms tumor 1 were performed on all cases and prior immunohistochemical stains were reviewed. Forty cases were identified (22 females; 18 males) with a median age of 53 years (range: 13 to 85 y). Clinically, all were well-circumscribed, stable to slow-growing raised/cystic skin lesions ranging from 1 to 40 mm. Most were located on

Congenital cutaneous pyogenic granuloma is a rare benign vascular tumor with clinical and histopathological features similar to infantile hemangioma. It usually presents as a red, pedunculated and highly friable papule. On histopathological analysis, one can see a capillary vessel proliferation with lobular pattern and endothelial proliferation. The differential diagnosis is based on negativity of glucose transporter 1 (GLUT1) immunochemistry studies. We report two infants with congenital pyogenic granuloma, one with a unique cutaneous lesion and the other with multiple lesions affecting both

We report a case of palatal pyogenic granuloma following mucogingival surgery for alveolar socket preservation. A 24-year-old systemically healthy female underwent a pediculated palatal pedicle graft procedure to achieve soft tissue augmentation over a grafted maxillary anterior extraction site. After 1 month, a 15 mm × 20 mm exophytic growth extending from the palatal donor site to distance of 3-4 mm from the extraction socket was observed. After obtaining the subject's consent, local anesthesia was administered and the growth was excised from the base. On histopathological examination, the f

A 78-year-old Japanese man underwent routine esophagogastroduodenoscopy, during which a reddish, flat elevated lesion was observed in the middle third of the esophagus. A bright red area of protrusion appeared in the center of the elevated lesion three months later, and the protruded nodule grew to be a blood blister six months after the initial endoscopy examination. The morphology of the lesion changed from a protruded nodule to a mass with two humps that subsequently returned to a single hump during the three-year observation period. A histological diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma was made b
