BACKGROUND: Max Muenke included midface hypoplasia as part of the clinical syndrome caused by the Pro250Arg FGFR3 mutation that now bears his name. Murine models have demonstrated midface hypoplasia in homozygous recessive mice only, with heterozygotes having normal midfaces; as the majority of humans with the syndrome are heterozygotes, we investigated the incidence of midface hypoplasia in our institution's clinical cohort.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed all patients with a genetic and clinical diagnosis of Muenke syndrome from 1990 to 2014. Review of clinical records and photographs

BACKGROUND: Teeth agenesis or hypodontia consists of the developmental absence of one or more teeth. Many studies confirm that this condition is almost frequent in general population; the prevalence reported is between 2.7% and 11.3%. This condition shows a multifactorial etiology: genetic factors, hereditary factors, environmental factors, local or general infective processes, radiations, drugs and traumas. The aim of this observational study was to evaluate the prevalence of tooth agenesis in a sample of orthodontic healthy patients considering each Angle malocclusion.
METHODS: Nine hundred

INTRODUCTION: Associations of Class II malocclusions and vertical growth pattern with obstruction of the upper and lower pharyngeal airways and mouth breathing have been suggested. This implies that these malocclusion characteristics have a predisposing anatomical factor for these problems. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to compare upper and lower pharyngeal widths in patients with untreated Class I and Class II malocclusions and normal and vertical growth patterns.
METHODS: The sample comprised 80 subjects divided into 2 groups: 40 Class I and 40 Class II, subdivided according to g
