There is no single method for evaluating topical antifungal drugs. The localisation and the type of fungal, determine the treatment duration (from few days to several months). The main methodological characteristics of clinical trials in tinea pedis treatment (athlete's foot type) are reported. Aspects related to other clinical forms such as tinea versicolor and onychomycosis are also described. In any case, the main criteria of activity remains the mycological examination based on KOH microbiology and culture performed at the end of the treatment and again afterwards.

OBJECTIVES: To prevent invasive fungal disease (IFD) in adult patients undergoing remission-induction chemotherapy for newly diagnosed acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL).
PATIENTS AND METHODS: In a double-blind multicentre Phase 3 study, patients received prophylactic liposomal amphotericin B (L-AMB) at 5 mg/kg intravenously or placebo twice weekly in a 2:1 random allocation during remission-induction treatment. The primary endpoint was the development of proven or probable IFD. Secondary endpoints included those focused on the safety and tolerability of prophylactic L-AMB.

Schizophyllum commune (n = 30) showed lowest geometric mean MICs of isavuconazole (0.19 μg/ml), itraconazole (0.2 μg/ml), voriconazole (0.24 μg/ml), and amphotericin B (0.29 μg/ml) and high geometric mean MICs of fluconazole (19.39 μg/ml) and flucytosine (17.28 μg/ml). Five cases (of 8) of allergic bronchopulmonary mycosis that were treated with itraconazole had no recrudescence after 6 to 24 months of follow-up. One case each of invasive pulmonary mycosis and fungal ball were treated successfully with voriconazole and itraconazole.
