A Retrospective comparative analysis of postoperative renal function modification following retrograde intrarenal surgery versus minimally invasive percutaneous nephrolithotomy (≤ 26Ch) using serum creatinine-based metrics.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) and Acute Kidney Disease (AKD) are underreported complications of minimally invasive surgeries for stone disease. There is a lack of data on differences in AKI and AKD rates following Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) compared to Minimally Invasive Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (mPCNL) ≤ 26Ch. To compare the modification of renal function and the rates of AKI and AKD following RIRS versus mPCNL. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed data of patients treated between 2009 and 2025 across three tertiary referral centers. Renal function was eva

Propensity score matched comparison of transperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy for management of large impacted proximal ureteral stones with long-term follow-up.

Impacted proximal ureteral stones (IPUS) present challenging clinical scenarios due to their persistent nature and associated complications. While ureterorenoscopy (URS) lithotripsy is recommended as the primary treatment, controversies exist regarding the optimal management of such stones. In this retrospective analysis, we compared the operative outcomes and long-term results of transperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy (LU) and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for IPUS larger than 15 mm. Propensity score matching (PSM) was employed to mitigate potential selection biases. Following PS

Quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment Score Is a Better Predictor of Septic Shock After Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy: A Secondary Analysis of Two Multicenter Prospective Trials.

Introduction: Recent retrospective literature suggests that the quick sequential organ failure assessment (qSOFA) scoring tool is a potentially superior tool over use of the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) criteria to predict septic shock after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) surgery. Here we examine use of qSOFA and SIRS to predict septic shock within data series collected prospectively on PCNL patients as part of a greater study of infectious complications. Materials and Methods: We performed a secondary analysis of two prospective multicenter studies including PCNL patien
