We report a case of self-decapitation by suicidal hanging from a river bridge and discuss the decapitation mechanism, reviewing the literature. The torso and the head of the victim, respectively, were found apart in a river approximately 100 m and 600 m, respectively, downstream from the bridge in two days. BACKGROUND: gastric banding (GB) has been used for treatment of morbid obesity. METHODS: a banding device, introduced by Broadbent and consisting of a self-blocking nylon strip covered with a silicone tube, was used in 13 patients who have completed 1-year follow-up. A total of 48 patients with genuine stress incontinence underwent endoscopic bladder neck suspension; 36 patients (75%) were completely cured of their incontinence but 12 (25%) suffered recurrent leakage. To reduce the laryngeal obstruction in bilateral vocal cord paralysis, a new method of laterofixation was developed. Abnormal adherence of neutrophils to nylon fibre in vitro was found in blood from 17 of 51 (33.3%) patients with chronic or acute liver disease of different aetiologies. Diffuse cutaneous leishmaniasis is characterized by multiple nonulcerative skin lesions. Histologically, these lesions are dominated by vacuolated, heavily infected macrophages, with only a few lymphocytes present.
