Musculoskeletal Disorders and Health-Related Quality of Life Among Information Technology Professionals in the Post-Pandemic Period: A Cross-Sectional Occupational Health Study.

BACKGROUND: IT professionals face sustained ergonomic exposures, including prolonged sedentary behaviour, high screen time, and suboptimal workstation design, that intensified following pandemic-driven shifts to remote and hybrid work. These conditions predispose this occupational cohort to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and impaired health related quality of life (HRQoL); however, population-specific evidence remains limited. OBJECTIVE: To estimate 12-month MSD prevalence and regional distribution among IT professionals, compare HRQoL across MSD and non-MSD groups, and identify factors ind

Climate change and planetary health collaborations in the context of an occupational therapy telehealth intervention for families of children and youth with special health care needs.

Families of children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN) have been insufficiently considered in research about the health effects of climate change. Using a planetary health lens, we discuss this issue in the context of specific interprofessional collaborations around climate change, equity, and health promotion in New Hampshire. We present an organizational case series reflecting these inter-related collaborative initiatives, centered around an occupational therapy (OT) telehealth intervention for families of CYSHCN. This case series showcases interprofessional dialogue and know

Correctional-staff wellness in a statewide jail system: health appraisals, occupational strain and priorities for organizational support.

PURPOSE: Although substantial research has examined correctional officer health, fewer studies have focused on jail staff, and even fewer have done so within a unified, statewide jail system. This study aims to address this gap by examining staff perceptions of health and wellness across Tennessee's county jails, where centralized oversight enables system level insight. DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: Open-ended questionnaire data from 412 correctional personnel were analyzed following survey distribution to staff across all 120 Tennessee county jails. While jails are typically decentralized, Te

Development and Validation of the Health Belief Model-Based Occupational Exposure Risk Perception Scale for Nursing Staff.

BACKGROUND: Nursing staff frequently encounter serious occupational exposure risks that may adversely affect both their physical well-being and mental health. Their awareness of these risks plays a pivotal role in shaping protective behaviors and influencing how they recognize and respond to workplace hazards. However, existing assessment tools have several limitations, including a lack of robust theoretical foundation and an inability to reflect the complexity of contemporary clinical environments. METHODS: This multiphase study developed and validated a scale based on the Health Belief Mode

Occupational skin dermatoses among health care workers: A review of adverse skin reactions to personal protective equipment.

Occupational skin-related problems include dermatoses caused by agents in the working environment. For health care workers, these occupational dermatoses could be due to usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as gloves, masks, goggles, and other protective equipment. These PPE contribute to both allergic and irritant contact dermatitis. This review summarized the skin damage after PPE usage and hand hygiene protocol. Recommendations should be established to prevent these occupational dermatoses from PPE usage.
