Twenty-two adolescent patients with severe (more than 50%) slip were surgically treated. Eleven were reduced with Magerl/Dick transpedicular screw devices and fused posteriorly from L4 to S1, and 2 weeks later anteriorly L5-S1; the other 11 were fused in situ L4-S1 (6 patients) or L5-S1 (5 patients) using a circumferential (6 patients), anterior (4 patients) or posterolateral (1 patient) technique without instrumentation. We report 20 cases of ipsilateral supracondylar elbow fracture and forearm fracture in childhood. The mean follow-up was 20 months. For an analysis of the results, we used a global rotation of the upper limb. The results of external fixation of 66 unstable distal radial fractures were evaluated. In the majority, the radiological results were excellent or good. There was a clear correlation between an excellent or good clinical score and the subsequent radiological result. Upper limb dystrophy which caused a considerable morbidity was found in every third patient. Unstable distal radial fractures with severe initial displacement predispose to reflex dystrophy. External fixation obviously cannot prevent this severe complication, it is even possible that tension on soft tissues, capsules and ligaments

A case of bilateral anterior fracture dislocation of the shoulders is reported. Treatment included an open reduction and internal fixation on the right side and a Neer hemiarthroplasty on the left. The probable cause of injury was trauma, although a convulsive episode cannot be ruled out. Bilateral biceps tendon interposition was also seen in this case.

Twenty-seven patients with complex fractures of the lower end of the tibia were treated by an external Hoffman fixator between 1977 and 1981. In 30 adolescent patients with 36 structural curves undergoing posterior spinal arthrodesis using Cotrel-Dubousset (CD) instrumentation, computer tomography (CT) was performed to evaluate the change in rotation and in the sagittal plane. A one stage operation by the posterior route has been carried out in a series of nine patients for the reduction and fusion of severe spondylolisthesis and spondyloptosis. For this purpose special instruments have been designed to exert a controlled force on the displaced vertebra in two perpendicular directions. Technical details of the procedure are reported. The paper describes surgical treatment of 22 children with the abnormal development of the tibia. The character and steps of the surgery are dependent on anatomomorphological alterations of the extremity. The deformity and dislocations of feet in 16 children were corrected by stretching of the crus muscles and dissection of soft tissue obstacles. The follow-up observation of the operated patients continued from 6 months till 4 years. The results of the surgery in 20 patients were estimated as satisfactory, 2 children had recurrent deformity of the feet.
