Three methods are developed for the simultaneous determination of theophylline anhydrous (TH), guaiphenesin (GP), diphenhydramine hydrochloride (DP), methylparaben (MP), propylparaben (PP) and sodium benzoate (BZ) in pharmaceutical syrup. The chromatographic method depends on a high performance liquid chromatographic separation on a reversed-phase C(18) column at ambient temperature with mobile phase consisting of 25 mM KH2PO4, pH 3.2-acetonitrile (60:40, v/v). This study reports the first phenolics from Wissadula genus (Malvaceae) and the anti-inflammatory activity of 7,4'-di-O-methylisoscutellarein. Using chromatographic methods, five phenolic compounds were isolated from aerial parts of Wissadula periplocifolia (L.) C. Presl.
