Copper(II) polyphthalocyanine (CuPPc) was combined with graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) to form a heterojunction with enhanced photoelectrochemical (PEC) signal. A sensitive PEC method was developed for determination of ractopamine based on a PEC inner filter effect between gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and the g-C3N4/CuPPc. A novel dual-function material was synthesized by anchoring a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) layer on CdTe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) using a sol-gel with surface imprinting. BACKGROUND: Hyperphosphatemia is a key pathogenic factor in the development of secondary hyperparathyroidism and precludes its treatment with vitamin D. Calcimimetics are therapeutic drugs demonstrated to lower parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels through an increase in the intracellular calcium of parathyroid cells. The mechanism by which high phosphate levels stimulate PTH secretion is related to its ability to prevent the elevation of intracellular calcium. The aim of this study was to assess whether calcimimetics are able to normalize the phosphate-induced stimulation of PTH secretion.

High performance liquid chromatography with electrochemical detection was used to measure the release and content of dopamine and dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) from rat isolated striatum. The effects of the monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors clorgyline and (-)-deprenyl on dopamine and DOPAC release and contents, and the IC50 values of these compounds for inhibition of dopamine deamination in rat striatum were determined. Dopamine release was significantly increased by elevated KCl (22 mM) in a Ca2+-dependent manner, and by ouabain (20 muM), whereas the release of DOPAC remained constant.

DOET, like DOM, exhibited pressor action in rats. This increase of blood pressure was blocked by pretreatment with cinanserin. DOET at high doses decreased the spontaneous locomotor activity of mice at the first hour but increased the activity at the second hour; a low dose was less effective. DOET also increased the rectal temperature of rats and this hyperthermic action was suppressed by pretreating the animals with cinanserin or methysergide. The dog with chronic atrioventricular block (CAVB) combines a number of risk factors associated with Torsade de Pointes (TdP) arrhythmias. Nevertheless, approximately 33% of the animals are resistant to dofetilide-induced TdP arrhythmia.
