BACKGROUND: Fragrances are among the most common contact allergens in children. Cosmetic products are the most frequent source of skin exposure.
OBJECTIVE: To investigate exposure to fragrance allergens among Danish children, based on a sample of 1179 cosmetic products marketed for children.
METHODS: Information regarding cosmetic products marketed to children was obtained using a non-profit smartphone application registry, with data from December 2015 to November 2022.

Probiotics are widely used as feed additives in livestock production, yet the overall safety of commercially available veterinary probiotics remains insufficiently assessed. Cerebral glucose metabolism in rats was examined 1 week after the production by ibotenic acid of unilateral striatal lesions. The incorporation of carbon-14-labeled deoxyglucose decreased within the lesion but much less than that of carbon-14-labeled glucose. Barbiturate anesthesia caused a reversal of the asymmetric striatal deoxyglucose labeling, such that the lesioned striatum retained more tracer than the contralateral side. The combined use of barbiturates and radiolabeled deoxyglucose may enhance the identification of recent brain infarction in experimental animals and in man.

A novel and convenient strategy for iodine labeled glycopeptide molecular probe and purification was developed. The fluorine rich bi-functional coupling agent, 4-tris(2-perfluorohexylethyl)stannylbenzoate succinimidyl ester, was successfully synthesized via 5 steps starting from the fluorous Grignard reagent. The treatment of patients with coeliac disease is based on the strict avoidance of gluten. Such patients may be at risk if they ingest inadvertently pharmaceutical products that contain gluten. This paper provides information on the gluten content of Australian pharmaceutical products.
