INTRODUCTION: Nonunion of a femoral periprosthetic fracture is a rare occurrence in orthopedic practice. Failure of a periprosthetic fracture to heal can lead to substantial disability and pain for patients as well as the potential need for component revision. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of acidic primers on bonding magnetic steel alloys. Three alloys (XM27, 447J1, and AUM20) were primed with one of the following materials: Acryl Bond, Estenia Opaque Primer, Eye Sight Opaque Primer, M. L. Primer, or Super-Bond liquid. Late loss of initially integrated endosseous implants has generally been attributed to implant overload often the result of inappropriate prosthesis design. Implant placement is rarely contraindicated by preexisting systemic diseases, and no instances of medication-induced implant failure have been reported in the literature. This paper reports a case in which a patient lost five endosseous implants that had successfully osseointegrated and had been restored with a lower hybrid prosthesis approximately 6 months after diphosphonate therapy for osteoporosis was started.

Osteolysis tends to remain clinically silent and presents a treatment challenge. In the past, the progression of implant wear was used to determine the timing of interventions.
