Clinical Hypnosis for Chronic Illnesses: A Scoping Review of Randomized Controlled Trials.

Chronic illnesses require a multifaceted treatment approach, and clinical hypnosis has shown promise as a complementary intervention. This scoping review maps the evidence on clinical hypnosis for chronic illness management, focusing on randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines and scoping review framework by Arksey and O'Malley's (2005), a systematic search in PubMed and Scopus identified 16 RCTs involving adults with conditions such as fibromyalgia, cancer, obesity, and heart disease. Studies were conducted primarily in Europe and the USA, with sample sizes ranging

Systematic review: Exploring the monitoring and reporting of unwanted events in psychotherapy trials for anorexia nervosa.

OBJECTIVE: If a psychotherapeutic intervention has the capacity to produce positive change, the "deterioration effect" theory holds that it must also have the potential for negative effects. However, the definition, measurement, and reporting of unwanted events in psychotherapy is a topic of ongoing discussion. At present this area is under-explored in interventions for anorexia nervosa (AN), a severe mental illness associated with high medical and psychiatric risks. The aim of this article was to undertake a systematic review of published randomized controlled trials (RCTs) evaluating psychot

Review of disease-modifying drug trials in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

We analysed clinical trials of pharmacological interventions on patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and compared study quality and design features. The systematic review included articles published in PubMed and trials registered in ClinicalTrials.gov. Included studies were randomised double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trials assessing a disease-modifying pharmacological intervention. Studies were excluded if primary end points were safety or dose finding. A total of 28 735 articles and 721 current trials were identified. 76 published articles and 23 ongoing trials met inc

The efficacy of rehabilitation in people with Guillain-Barrè syndrome: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials.

INTRODUCTION: Individuals with Guillain-Barrè syndrome (GBS) showed significant longer-term psychological sequelae, due to persistent disability. In recent years, great advances have been made in medical care for patients with GBS. However, the focus has been mainly on patient care in the acute phase and improving survival instead of long-term disability. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of rehabilitation in people with GBS through a systematic review of randomized controlled trials. AREA COVERED: PRISMA guidelines were used to perform this systematic review. Six bibliog
