In 1978, I reported on the diagnostic criteria and therapy based on the treatment of 34 cases of perilymph fistula. Of that group, 20 patients had no hearing loss associated with the fistula. Since that time, an additional 30 cases of fistula--15 without hearing loss--have been seen and treated operatively. The 30 significant variables of history and physical findings identified in the first study were statistically reviewed, along with a new finding that seems highly significant. STUDY OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether laparoscopic bipolar coagulation of uterine vessels (LBCUV) and supracervical amputation improve laparoscopic-assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH).
DESIGN: Prospective, randomized, longitudinal study (Canadian Task Force classification II-1).
SETTING: Private practice, university-affiliated hospital.
PATIENTS: Sixty-four women (age 31-52 yrs) with symptomatic myomatous uteri larger than 12 weeks on bimanual examination.

The anatomical characteristics of the transverse carpal ligament (TCL) have recently been further clarified. The processus vaginalis is an evagination of parietal peritoneum which accompanies the round ligament through the inguinal ring into the inguinal canal. The portion of processus vaginalis within the inguinal canal in women is called 'the canal of Nuck'. When the processus vaginalis fails to close, it can result in a hernia or hydrocele, both in women and men. Female hydrocele of the canal of Nuck is uncommon. A literature search revealed that little has been published on this condition. We present a case of a hydrocele of the canal of Nuck in a 5-month-old female infant.
