Myeloid Sarcoma of the Testis in Children: Clinicopathologic and Immunohistochemical Characteristics With KMT2A (MLL) Gene Rearrangement Correlation.

Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is defined as an extramedullary mass-forming lesion composed of immature myeloid cells. It is a rare but well-known manifestation of acute myeloid leukemia. Pediatrics testicular MS may pose a possible diagnostic challenge, an issue that is underscored in the few testicular pediatric MS cases reported in the literature. Herein, we report a series of 5 cases of pediatric testicular MS that are evaluated at the morphologic and immunohistochemical levels with correlation with the KMT2A (MLL) rearrangement status. Three patients presented with no prior history of acute myeloid

Granulocytic/myeloid sarcoma with trisomy 21 presented as an epididymal tumor: A case report and review of the literature.

Myeloid sarcoma is an extramedullary tumor composed of immature myeloid cells and occurs in various extramedullary sites. We report a 48-year-old man diagnosed with myeloid sarcoma in the epididymis. He was admitted to our hospital due to a painless right intrascrotal mass. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a 30 mm tumor in the right epididymis, and we subsequently performed right high orchiectomy. The pathological diagnosis was myeloid sarcoma. Bone marrow aspiration and biopsy revealed no hematological disease, and cytogenetic analysis in the bone marrow showed normal karyotype. He was diagn

Polyserositis as a primary clinical manifestation of CD7+ acute myelogenous leukemia with myeloid sarcoma: A case report.

RATIONALE: Myeloid sarcomas (MS) are defined as rare extramedullary masses composed of immature myeloid cells. MS mostly develops in patients with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and involves primarily the skin, soft tissues, bones, and lymph nodes. Pleura and pericardium involvement of MS are extremely uncommon. Polyserositis is also a very rare extramedullary presentation of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). PATIENT CONCERNS: A 30-year-old woman with a complaint of right neck mass combined with coughing for 2 months as well as fever and systemic edema for the last 10 days, was admitted to our cen

Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia associated with myeloid sarcomas and NPM1 mutation: a case report and literature review.

We present a case of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) associated with myeloid sarcomas. The CMML also harbored a NPM1 mutation, which is uncommonly described outside the context of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). We describe our treatment strategy, which involved remission-induction chemotherapy that led to rapid resolution of myeloid sarcomas, and we present a literature review highlighting the treatment challenges that similar cases pose.

Assessment of PET/CT in multifocal myeloid sarcomas with loss of TET2: a case report and literature review.

Myeloid sarcoma is a rare solid tumor consisting of leukemic myeloblasts and/or myeloid precursors occurring outside the blood or bone marrow. The unique site with myeloid sarcoma has been reported, the multiple sites of myeloid sarcoma have rarely been cited in the medical literature. Here we report that the unusual clinical presentation and management of myeloid sarcoma in multiple sites with PET-CT, highlighting the utility of PET-CT was useful in detecting and monitoring myeloid sarcoma. We also found that loss of TET2 and gain of 5 hmC in the case of myeloid sarcoma, indicating the mechan

De novo myeloid sarcoma in a 4-month-old infant: a case report and review of the literature.

Myeloid sarcoma is a rare tumor of immature myeloid cells in an extramedullary site. Myeloid sarcoma may present in a variety of locations; skin is one of the common sites. It may precede or occur concurrently with acute myeloid leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia, other forms of myeloproliferative disorders/myelodysplastic syndrome or de novo. We report a case of a 4-month-old female who presented with cutaneous lesions without evidence of leukemia, determined to be de novo myeloid sarcoma. She had erythematous nodules in multiple skin sites. Biopsy revealed a diffuse atypical mononuclear cell

Myeloid sarcoma with multiple lesions of the central nervous system in a patient without leukemia. Case report.

The authors report the unusual case of a 35-year-old woman suffering from left leg numbness and radiculopathy due to multiple lesions in the central nervous system: one right parietal extracranial-intracranial lesion with invasion of the sensory cortex, and two intraspinal, intradural lesions compressing the spinal cord at T3-5 and S 1-4. Biopsy sampling of the extracranial part of the parietal lesion led to a diagnosis of myeloid sarcoma. Further examination revealed no evidence of leukemic disease or myeloproliferative disorder. An aggressive multimodal approach to treatment in this patient

Rare and complex three-way t(8;11;21) translocation in core-binding factor acute myeloid leukemia transforming into refractory mediastinal myeloid sarcoma: cytogenetic and molecular insights.

Core-binding factor (CBF) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with t(8;21)(q22;q22)/RUNX1::RUNX1T1 is typically considered as a favorable-risk AML in the context of cytarabine-based intensive chemotherapy. However, in some situations such as additional adverse-risk mutations or cytogenetics, the prognosis and disease course may be more uncertain. Here, we report the case of a young patient diagnosed with CBF-AML and RUNX1::RUNX1T1 fusion gene, carrying a rare and complex three-way t(8;11;21)(q22;q13;q22) translocation, with mutated KIT, ASXL1 and TET2 genes, transforming into an aggressive and multi-

Blinatumomab-Related Lineage Switch of KMT2A/AFF1-Rearranged B-Lymphoblastic Leukemia to B/Myeloid Mixed-Phenotype Acute Leukemia and Myeloid Sarcoma Causing Spinal Cord Compression.

Blinatumomab is a promising monoclonal antibody therapeutic for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). However, it has been associated with lineage switch in acute leukemia, particularly in cases of KMT2A-rearranged B-ALL, which carries a poor prognosis. While most lineage switch events present as acute myeloid leukemia (AML), rare cases may manifest as myeloid sarcoma. In the current report, we describe the development of myeloid sarcoma following blinatumomab treatment in a patient with refractory KMT2A-rearranged B-ALL. The patient, a

Clinicopathological stratification of myeloid sarcoma: Differences between acute leukemia-associated, chronic myeloid neoplasm-associated, and de novo disease - A single-center study of 126 cases.

BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcoma is a rare extramedullary tumor of immature myeloid cells, most commonly associated with acute leukemia, but also seen in chronic myeloid neoplasms or as an isolated lesion (de novo). These different clinical contexts suggest biological heterogeneity with potential prognostic implications. This study aimed to analyze clinicopathological features and survival outcomes across these three subgroups in a large single-center cohort. METHODS: This retrospective study included 126 histologically confirmed cases of myeloid sarcoma diagnosed at UPUMS Saifai between January 2

Case report: The first case of concurrent breast myeloid sarcoma and borderline phyllodes tumor with malignant features.

BACKGROUND: Myeloid sarcoma (MS) is a rare hematological malignancy characterized by the formation of a solid mass of myeloblasts outside the bone marrow, such as in the lymph nodes, skin, or bone. MS may arise de novo or concurrently with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN), or myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS). MS accounts for less than 1% of extramedullary acute myeloid leukemia cases. Phyllodes tumors (PTs) are a rare fibroepithelial breast tumor that can be benign, malignant, or borderline, and account for less than 1% of all breast cancers. CASE PRESENTATION: We
