[Clinical study of maxillary sinus floor elevation with simultaneous placement of implants from the top of alveoli].

BACKGROUND: Apolipoprotein B (ApoB) reflects the number of circulating atherogenic lipoprotein particles and may reveal residual lipid-related risk when LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) appears normal. Whether AHA PREVENT-estimated cardiovascular risk identifies LDL-C-normal adults with discordantly high ApoB remains unclear. METHODS: We analyzed NHANES 2005-2016 adults aged 30-79 years without prevalent cardiovascular disease. Discordantly high ApoB was defined as LDL-C < 100 mg/dL with ApoB ≥ 90 mg/dL. Survey-weighted analyses estimated ApoB-high prevalence across AHA PREVENT-estimated ASCVD, total

[Development and clinical application of ultrasonic osteotomy in dentistry].

PURPOSE: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a metabolic disorder of pregnant women that develops during their second or third trimester. As an important organ in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, the liver may play a role in GDM pathophysiology. This meta-analysis examined the conflicting relationship between liver enzyme levels and GDM risk while emphasizing the probable use of liver enzymes as a biomarker for early detection and prevention of GDM. METHODS: Literature from PubMed, EBSCO, Google Scholar, and ScienceDirect was systematically reviewed through August 2025. A total of seven

Early Failure Rate and Associated Risk Factors for Dental Implants Placed With and Without Maxillary Sinus Augmentation: A Retrospective Study.

PURPOSE: Dental implant treatment is one of the most successful methods to replace lost teeth. However, several factors play a role in the early failure of implants, which could occur prior to the insertion of the restorative component. This study aimed to investigate the rate of early implant failure in the maxillary posterior area with and without sinus augmentation and other related risk factors. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Data were collected from the records of patients who received implant treatment in the posterior maxilla (premolars and molars). The information included whether the sinus w

Elevation forces and resilience of the sinus membrane during sinus floor elevation: preliminary measurements using a balloon method on ex vivo pig heads.

PURPOSE: Because the maxilla and its alveolar process are prone to resorption after tooth loss, it is often necessary to perform a bone augmentation procedure to successfully carry out implant treatment in that region. The aim of this study was to determine the adhesive force between the sinus membrane and the osseous sinus floor that occurs during sinus floor elevation with a balloon lift system. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-two ex vivo pig heads were used for this study. Access to the maxillary sinus was gained via the lateral sinus wall. Sinus elevation was performed using an inflatable b

Computed tomographic evaluation of sinus augmentation with simultaneous endosseous implant placement.

Computed tomography (CT) has become the gold standard by which a comprehensive implant treatment plan is determined and a postoperative assessment of cancellous and cortical bone is achieved. A patient with an insufficient alveolar bone height and sinus pneumatization was treated for the simultaneous placement of implants with sinus augmentation. CT scans were used not only for the presurgical evaluation, but also for the postoperative radiographic observation. The new sinus floor seemed to be more defined as time goes on and the decrease in alveolar bone height could not be found. The cortica

Bone Regeneration Techniques for Dental Implant Placement Comparing the Effect of Graft Material on Bone Volume and Long-Term Graft Stability: A Systematic Review.

The natural physiological bone resorption following tooth loss often results in reduced bone volume to place dental implants in a restoratively driven position. Bone regeneration procedures such as guided bone regeneration (GBR), sinus augmentation (SA), and alveolar ridge preservation (ARP) have therefore been developed to promote new bone formation. These procedures utilize bone grafting materials of which there are four types, namely, autogenous, allograft, xenograft, and alloplastic grafts. However, there is still no consensus on which material is superior. This systematic review aimed to

Palatal window osteotomy technique improves maxillary sinus augmentation in previously insufficient augmentation case.

INTRODUCTION: Perforation of the Schneiderian membrane is the most common complication in sinus floor augmentation (SFA). When volume of grafting is qualified to prevent enlargement of the membrane perforation, lack of bone volume may occur in optimal site. CASE PRESENTATION: SFA was performed in sites #24 to 26 in a 63-year-old male. However, a 10-mm size perforation of the Schneiderian membrane occurred in site #26. Although the sinus cavity was grafted with deproteinized bovine bone mineral (DBBM) after repair of membrane perforation, insufficient bone formation was observed on palatal and…

Microsurgical enophthalmos correction after silent sinus syndrome.

A 66-year-old man with silent sinus syndrome, resulting in progressive enophthalmos and subclinical chronic maxillary sinusitis, presented after several failed attempts at reconstruction with conventional methods. A free fibula osteoseptocutaneous flap was used to recreate the orbital floor, obliterate the maxillary sinus, and augment the periorbital contour deformity in a single stage. This is a novel approach for the treatment of Silent Sinus Syndrome in a single stage.

Maxillary sinus augmentation following removal of a maxillary sinus pseudocyst after a shortened healing period.

PURPOSE: Dome-shaped radiopacities on the floor of the maxillary sinus are commonly interpreted as a sinus cyst on radiographs during dental implant planning. They might present an obstacle in sinus grafting, leading to bone graft failure or implant loss later. The therapeutic approaches to the removal of such cystic lesions and the following sinus augmentation are still controversial. The purpose of this article is to present a modified technique that can be used for predictable removal of a maxillary sinus cyst and sinus augmentation after a shortened healing period in patients with maxillar

Maxillary Sinus Elevation by Crestal Window: Influence of 3D Sinus Size on Bone Regeneration-A Retrospective Clinical and Histologic Evaluation.

This evaluation correlates maxillary sinus 3D morphology with bone regeneration. In 39 patients with crestal bone ≤ 2 mm, mineralized human bone allografts were used to augment the sinus floor through the crestal window sinus elevation approach. CBCT was used to measure the buccopalatal diameter (BPD), mesiodistal diameter (MDD), and hemi-ellipsoidal volume (Vh) in all sinuses. A bone core biopsy sample was taken at implant placement (4 to 5 months after sinus augmentation). Microradiographs of methacrylate-embedded sections were used to evaluate the amounts of bone, residual graft, and soft t
