Benzyl alcohol (BnOH) is an aromatic alcohol used worldwide as an excipient in foods, cosmetics, household products, and medications. Although BnOH is a bacteriostatic agent found in many parenteral preparations, this agent is responsible for precipitating the gasping syndrome in premature neonates. Increasing evidence of human exposure to BnOH and environmental contamination of BnOH requires a detailed toxicity assessment of this aromatic chemical. The Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by lack of vaginal and uterine development variable and normal ovaries. It results from agenesis or hypoplasia Müller duct system. Cervicovaginal agenesis as part of the complex syndrome, is even rarer. We report two cases: adolescent patient with primary amenorrhea, cervicovaginal agenesis and chronic pelvic pain, and a 28-year-old patient with primary amenorrhea, congenital absence of uterus and vagina.

BACKGROUND: Microdeletions on chromosome 17q12 cause of diverse spectrum of disorders and have only recently been identified as a rare cause of Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuester-Hauser-Syndrome (MRKH), which is characterized by uterus aplasia ± partial/complete vaginal aplasia in females with a regular karyotype.
