A 49-year-old man with prior DeBakey IIIb dissections underwent preoperative spinal magnetic resonance imaging for lumbar stenosis, which in … ), supporting Loeys-Dietz syndrome with skeletally predominant features. This case illustrates that spine-MRI red flags should prompt Ghent-based re-examination and genetic referral when aortic-root features are absent, and genetic confirmation should guide cascade testing and risk-adapted surveillance of relatives.

BACKGROUND: Rates of both total shoulder arthroplasty (TSA) and cervical spine surgery for degenerative cervical spine disease (DCSD) are increasing. However, it is still unknown if prior cervical spine surgery for DCSD impact outcomes following TSA. This study aims to compare the risk of complications and revisions in patients undergoing TSA with DCSD between patients with and without prior cervical spine surgery.
METHODS: This study is a retrospective review of the PearlDiver Mariner Database. Based on whether or not patients had prior cervical spine surgery, the patients with DCSD and unde…

STUDY DESIGN: Narrative review.
OBJECTIVE: To provide an overview of the evolution of biportal endoscopic spine surgery (BE) and its role in addressing specific challenges in minimally invasive spinal procedures, focusing on its technical features and clinical applications.
SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Minimally invasive spine surgery has gained momentum due to its ability to reduce tissue damage, postoperative pain, and recovery times compared with traditional open surgery. BE has emerged as an innovative technique, offering unique visualization and maneuverability that allow for addressing …

OBJECTIVE: To quantitatively evaluate and compare postoperative head and cervical spine mobility (HCSM) following different subaxial cervical surgeries.
METHOD: A cohort of 147 patients who underwent one, two, or three levels of anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF1, ACDF2, ACDF3) or laminoplasty (LAMP) surgery was assessed. Six-direction active cervical range of motion (CROM) was measured with a CROM device. The HCSM retention rate (HCSM-RR) for each patient was calculated by comparing their CROM values against a previously established normative baseline dataset.
RESULTS: Postopera…
