Our objective was to study the properties of the carboxyfluorescein diacetate succinimidyl ester (CFDA-SE) and the methodology of cell labeling using CFDA-SE fluorescent dye. Using isolectin (GSA I-B4) as a marker, this study examined the possible alterations of lectin-labeled membranous glycoproteins in microglial cells in the olfactory bulb of normal development and under experimentally induced degeneration. We examined the expression and significance of p27(Kip1) protein in 79 patients with transitional cell carcinoma of the renal pelvis and ureter. Immunohistochemical staining of archival tissue specimens was done using a labeled streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase method. There was no significant association between p27(Kip1) labeling index and histologic grade or pathologic stage.
