PURPOSE: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a low-dose Mitomycin C injected subconjunctivally after a guarded filtration operation in humans.
METHODS: Fourteen patients with failing filters received an injection of 0.01 mg Mitomycin C (0.25 ml of 0.04 mg/ml solution) into the filtering bleb. Eyes with end stage glaucoma of patients with healthy or successfully operated fellow eye were selected for the treatment. In 6 of the cases 2 to 5 days later a needle revision of the bleb was performed.
RESULTS: In 12 of the treated eyes (86%) we found a lowering of the IOP with a mean of 8.08 mmHg

BACKGROUND: To analyse the inocuity and the incidence of complications of a 0.2 mg/ml solution of Mitomycin C (M.M.C.), for two application time, 2.5 or 5 minutes.
METHODS: 110 trabeculectomies were realised in 99 patients; they were high-risk (HR) patients in 66 cases, and low-risk (LR) patients in 44 cases. M.M.C. was used for 2.5 minutes in 44 cases (20 HR patients, 24 LR patients), and for 5 minutes in 66 cases (46 HR patients, 20 LR patients).

Trabeculectomy, an operation of relatively easy technique, is effective on the intra-ocular pressure in 93,5 p.100 of cases in our statistics. We present a case of retinal detachment caused by extensive retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) tears following hypotony following TLE surgery. Bleb leakage is a serious complication of glaucoma filtering surgery. This study describes the method and the results of a new repair method for ischemic bleb leaks.
