The cubital tunnel syndrome is one of the most common entrapment neuropathy of the upper limb. Life-threatening, space-occupying brain edema occurs in up to 10% of patients with supratentorial infarcts and is traditionally associated with a high mortality rate of up to 80%. Management of these patients is currently being changed to an earlier and more aggressive treatment regimen. Early surgical decompression has recently been proven effective to reduce mortality and increase the number of patients with a favorable outcome in randomized controlled trials and is now the "antiedema" therapy of first choice for patients with large middle cerebral artery infarction aged 60 years or younger.

Open-door expansile laminoplasty is a practical surgical technique for the treatment of cervical myelopathy secondary to cervical spinal stenosis. Laminoplasty procedures were first described in the late 1970s and have undergone numerous modifications. The current article reviews the indications, techniques, and outcome data for cervical laminoplasty. Complications of laminoplasty and comparison to laminectomy outcomes are also discussed.

OBJECTIVES: Oral submucous fibrosis (OSMF) is a potentially malignant disorder (PMD) characterized by a high rate of malignant transformation (MT). OSMF exhibits atrophic epithelium yet has a high proliferation rate. Both p53 and Ki67 are nuclear proteins associated with cell proliferation, detectable in the early stages of oral cancer (OC). This study aimed to analyze the efficacy of p53 and Ki67 immuno-expression as tools for predicting malignant transformation in OSMF cases. When endoscopic therapy is used for the treatment of patients with painful chronic pancreatitis, extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) can be proposed as a first-line approach when obstructive ductal stone(s) induce upstream dilation of the main pancreatic duct. The incidence of trigeminal neuralgia (TN) in patients with multiple sclerosis is higher than in the general population. If pharmacologic therapy fails, invasive procedures in the gasserian ganglion are usually offered. Microvascular decompression is not routinely performed. The authors report a patient with persistent TN after repetitive trigeminal radiofrequency rhizotomy and finally successful microvascular decompression after demonstration of neurovascular compression with high-resolution MRI.

Nine unicameral bone cysts of the calcaneus in children were managed surgically using the technique of continuous decompression with titanium cannulated cancellous screws.
