We present adult adrenal ganglioneuroblastoma with giant regional lymph node metastasis. The patient was a 21-year-old male, who had a left adrenal tumor diagnosed by ultrasonography incidentally. He was moderately developed and physical examination was almost normal. Blood pressure was within the normal range. Expression of low and high molecular weight cytokeratin proteins was investigated immunohistochemically in a variety of transitional and squamous epithelial lesions of the urinary tract with and without schistosomiasis. The monoclonal antibodies used were CAM 5.2 and NCL5D3 for low, PK 63 and 121 for high, and MAK 6 for a broad range of intermediate molecular weight cytokeratins. Computed tomography (CT) and mediastinoscopy were compared in 151 patients with bronchogenic carcinoma. In all patients in whom findings at mediastinoscopy were negative, all accessible nodes were either removed or sampled at thoracotomy. 402 radical hysterectomies (17 ultraradical) were performed with lymphadenectomy. Positive metastatic nodes (N+) rate was 23.6% with an arithmetic mean of 22 excised lymph nodes. The mediastinum is commonly involved with disease in patients with Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. The involvement may be permeative, or individual groups of nodes may be enlarged. The parietal nodes of the mediastinum may also be abnormal with either type. Precise mapping of all disease is important when radiation therapy is to be a major component of treatment planning. Detection of relapse following mantle irradiation is frequently dependent on having a new comparative baseline after the distortions of mediastinal contours consequent to radiation treatment have stabilized.

The frequency distribution of tissue mast cells and eosinophilic granulocytes in tumor-draining lymph nodes was evaluated. In total 483 axillary lymph nodes draining invasive ductal breast cancer and 162 paracolic lymph nodes draining infiltrating adenocarcinoma of the large bowel were analyzed. This study evaluates the possible effect of OC use on the prognosis of established breast cancer. Three hundred forty-seven patients with primary invasive breast carcinoma age 50 and under treated from 1971 to 1981 are included in this study. There were 112 OC Users (U) and 235 Non-Users (NU). Cisplatin was used successfully to treat 2 dogs with metastatic squamous cell carcinoma. One dog was observed to have a complete remission and died of unrelated causes 23 months later. The other dog had a partial remission of the tumor, but relapsed and was euthanatized 4 1/2 months after the beginning of treatment. Both dogs tolerated the treatment well.

Eighty-one patients with diffuse large cell lymphoma localized in the head and neck were treated with radiation between 1971 and 1981. Of these, 52 had Waldeyer's ring disease, 14 nodal, and 15 extranodal disease. A series of 900 patients with laryngeal carcinoma is described. Patients with glottic T1N0 tumours were treated by radiotherapy with a 5-year survival of 92%. Seven per cent of patients suffered recurrence and most were salvaged by surgery: vertical hemilaryngectomy was occasionally useful as a salvage procedure. Patients with supra-glottic T1N0 tumours were treated for the first 7 years by supra-glottic laryngectomy and prophylactic neck dissection and thereafter by radiotherapy. Normal lymph nodes of the mediastinum are often not visible at CT. Some nodes may become contrast filled after foot lymphography, and these are easily seen in the CT sections. In the present report contrast filling is used to locate the main groups of mediastinal nodes at CT. The anatomy is reviewed and involvement of different nodes in various diseases is discussed.

The clinic of radiology at the university of Graz has examined 158 cases of nonpuerperal mastitis. By means of mammography and during further clinical course, differentiation to the inflammatory carcinoma was possible. In 55% of the examined cases one ore more clinical symptoms, which are described as typical for the nonpuerperal mastitis, were absent. With the help of mammography in most of all cases an exact diagnosis was made.
