Insulin receptor substrate 2 (IRS2) participates in reproduction; however, the location and expression of IRS2 in the reproductive system of female mice is not clear. We used real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR), western blot and immunohistochemical staining to investigate the expression of IRS2 in the ovary, oviduct and uterus of female mice during the estrous cycle. We found that IRS2 was expressed in all reproductive organs of mouse and that the expression level changed with the estrous phases. The expression of IRS2 in reproductive organs was greatest during estrus.

Although MRD monitoring by the classic polymerase chain reaction (PCR) approach is a powerful outcome predictor, about 20% of mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and 50% of follicular lymphoma (FL) patients still lack a molecular marker and are thus resulting not eligible for MRD monitoring. Targeted locus amplification (TLA), a new NGS technology, has been revealed as a feasible marker screening approach able to identify uncommon B-cell leukemia/lymphoma 1 (BCL1) and B-cell leukemia/lymphoma 2 (BCL2) rearrangements in MCL and FL cases defined as having "no marker" by the classic PCR approach.

Mycobacterium haemophilum is a nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) with a predilection for skin and soft tissue infection (SSTI) in the immunocompromised host. HTT full-penetrance pathogenic repeat expansions, the genetic cause of Huntington's disease (HD), have been recently reported in a minority of frontotemporal dementia/amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients (0.13%). We analyzed HTT CAG repeats in an Italian cohort of ALS patients (n = 467) by repeat-primed polymerase chain reaction. One patient harbored two expanded alleles in the HTT gene (42 and 37 CAG repeats). The absence of HD typical symptoms and the clinical picture consistent with ALS, corroborated by the diagnostic assessment, apparently excluded a misdiagnosis of HD.

Progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) is an opportunistic infection due to reactivation of John Cunningham virus (JCV). The diagnosis depends on evidence from clinical, imaging, and virologic studies. When the cerebrospinal fluid shows a negative polymerase chain reaction result, brain biopsy is required to confirm the diagnosis. PML has no standard treatment except for immune reconstitution. Efforts to recognize SARS-CoV-2 infection have focused on respiratory symptoms such as cough and shortness of breath. Although it is also well known that SARS-CoV-2 infection can cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea, there are emerging reports of SARS-CoV-2 infection causing surgical pathology. We present the first case report of SARS-CoV-2 infection directly causing acute appendicitis, first suspected due to highly atypical histological features and later confirmed as polymerase chain reaction positive appendicular tissue sample.

Herein, we report an immunocompetent 22-year-old Thai female who presented with two months of progressive right upper eyelid mass, associated with swelling, redness, and ptosis. We describe a case of severe community-acquired adenovirus pneumonia in an immunocompetent 66-year-old man. He presented with one-day history of malaise, fever and emesis.
