We report an exceptional case of umbilical basal cell carcinoma (BCC) in a 21-year-old man, whose correct diagnosis was suggested by dermoscopy during initial complete body mole mapping. Although BCC is a common skin tumor, only 7 cases of BCC arising within the umbilicus have been reported previously. To the best of our knowledge, our patient is unique because of his age, being the youngest case of umbilical BCC described in the literature. Poliosis is a localized patch of gray or white hair. Because it can be seen with a variety of disorders and drugs, a full history and exam is indicated. Additionally, it can be associated with underlying benign and malignant tumors, necessitating histological identification. We review the lesions that are reported with poliosis. In addition, we will report a case of poliosis overlying an intradermal nevus with congenital as well as blue nevus features. To the best of our knowledge, blue nevus features associated with poliosis have not been previously described.

BACKGROUND: Solid organ transplant recipients are at increased risk of skin cancer. Melanoma is less common than nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) although the relative proportion of melanoma among skin cancers has been shown to be higher in paediatric than adult recipients. Multiple melanocytic naevi and/or atypical naevi may be a risk factor for the development of melanoma. BACKGROUND: Narrowband ultraviolet B (UVB) phototherapy and 308 nm excimer laser have produced encouraging therapeutic results for vitiligo. Repigmentation of various degrees was obtained in different studies.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Twenty-nine vitiliginous lesions from six patients were treated with targeted, broadband UV-B phototherapy. UV fluences were started at 50% of the minimal erythema dose, then increased gradually. Treatments were carried out twice weekly for 12 weeks.

A 20-year-old woman presented with a heavily pigmented scar on the left lower abdomen following excision of a benign compound nevus. Reexcision showed an organizing scar with pronounced hemosiderinlike pigment deposition and no residual melanocytic lesion. Early recognition and treatment of thin cutaneous melanoma have contributed to a decreased case-fatality rate over the past 60 years.
