Hypospadias is an embryological disorder that results in an abnormal ventral positioning of the urethral meatus. Among multiple surgical techniques described to correct this anomaly, the use of buccal mucosa grafts has gained popularity among pediatric urologists, pediatric surgeons and plastic surgeons. Buccal mucosa grafts have shown favorable histological changes that result in an excellent scaffold for urethral reconstructive surgery. This review describes the evolution of the use of buccal mucosa grafts in hypospadias repair.

OBJECTIVE: To study the clinical characteristics of male urethral duplication infection and offer some guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
METHODS: We analyzed the pathological types, clinical characteristics, therapeutic processes and follow-up results of 9 cases of male urethral duplication.

BACKGROUND: A 34-year-old, captive-born, vasectomized male chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) presented with lethargy and scrotal swelling.
METHODS: Urethral obstruction was diagnosed via urethroscopy.
RESULTS: Removal of the grass stem foreign body resolved the obstruction. Scrotal and preputial ulceration developed from urine scald, which was managed with surgical debridement and antibiotics.
CONCLUSIONS: After 7 weeks, the animal was reintroduced to its troup and has been healthy for 11 months.

Advances in urogenital plastic surgical tissue transfer techniques have enabled urethral reconstruction surgery to become the new gold-standard for treatment of refractory urethral stricture disease. Questions remain, however, regarding the long-term implications on sexual function after major genital reconstructive surgery. In this article, we review the pathologic features of urethral stricture disease and urologic trauma that may affect erectile function (EF) and assess the impact of various specific contemporary urethroplasty surgical techniques on male sexual function.

As it presents with a wide range of symptoms, diagnosis is based on histological findings. Here we present the case of a 27-year-old white woman with a painless vaginal mass associated with dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea and foul-smelling vaginal discharge.
