BACKGROUND: The objectives of this study were to assess the procedural outcomes of persistent and long-standing persistent atrial fibrillation (PsAF and L-PsAF) ablation guided by remote magnetic navigation (RMN), and to detect factors predicting acute restoration of sinus rhythm (SR) by ablation with RMN.

This report describes paradoxical atrial undersensing by a dual chamber pacemaker in a patient with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. Atrial undersensing was present only when the device was programmed to a high sensitivity but sensing normalized when a lower sensitivity was programmed. This unusual response should be differentiated from the recently documented lock-in behavior of pacemakers delivering managed ventricular pacing.

There have been many papers reviewing the dental office assessment and management of the patient with a seizure disorder. This paper will discuss two updated medical management issues which may impact dental office care of the seizure patient. The focus will on the use of a pacemaker-like device connected to the vagus nerve as part of seizure control. Also presented is an FDA update on the increasingly recognized medical side effects of antiseizure (antiepileptic) medications which may impact a dentist's interaction with a patient.

Vascular access catheters such as Tesio-Caths are preferentially inserted in the internal jugular vein and serve as access for hemodialysis.
