In a prospective study, we examined 34 patients with shoulder instabilities and 5 patients with unclear chronic shoulder pain (4 females, 35 males; 18-56 years of age, median 28 years) by CT arthrography and MRT arthrography from August 1994 through December 1995. Three cases of transient osteoporosis of the hip and their ultrasonographic findings are presented. Transient osteoporosis of the hip is an uncommon condition with pain in the hip area and limping. The diagnosis is supported by local radiological osteoporosis and other imaging methods. Exclusion of more common entities is required. Effusion of the hip joint detected by ultrasonography is also related to this condition, which must be taken into account in patients with hip pain.

This case report describes arthroscopic findings of the effect on articular distraction of ankle joint by means of external fixator for the patient with chondrolysis. Isolated injuries to the dorsoradial capsule of the thumb metacarpophalangeal joint are rarely reported. We report 11 patients who had a tear in the dorsoradial capsule of the thumb metacarpophalangeal joint without an associated collateral ligament injury. Seven of the injuries were confirmed at surgical exploration and repaired by imbrication/direct repair. OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether glenohumeral joint (GHJ) hyperlaxity is related to swimming training volume, we evaluated elite and recreational swimmers for differences in GHJ laxity and general joint hypermobility (GJH).
PARTICIPANTS: Thirty male and female elite swimmers, aged 15-25 years, were compared with 30 recreational swimmers on five clinical GHJ laxity tests. GJH was assessed based on evaluation of hypermobility in four other joints or joint combinations.

Bone and joint infections in children provide unique clinical challenges. When evaluating children with suspected bone and joint infection, the differential diagnosis is broad. Consideration must be given to possible neoplastic and traumatic causes. Appropriate imaging and diagnostic techniques should be initiated without delay.
