Expectant management remains the treatment of choice in isolated capillary haemangiomata, but active intervention is indicated when they constitute a threat to vital functions. We report a 6 1/2 week old Nigerian infant with acute stridor and unilateral haemangiomata involving the parieto-temporal scalp, forehead and periorbital skin. In rats fed a diet lacking flavonoids (but which had supplementary vitamin C) definite fine structural alterations were found in blood capillaries and tissues. These fine structural alterations were quite different from those reported in C-avitaminosis and imply a different deficiency. BACKGROUND: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) affects over 200 million people worldwide, causing claudication, reduced mobility and quality of life, and increased adverse events risk. Currently, cilostazol is the only established medication for PAD symptoms.
