INTRODUCTION: Development of secondary haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (sHLH) in the context of typhoid fever (TF) is a very rare but serious complication.
METHODS: Description of the first pediatric case of typhoid fever acquired in a non-endemic area complicated by sHLH. A systematic literature review of sHLH in the context of TF was performed with extraction of epidemiological, clinical and laboratory data.

A 32-year-old soldier presented to Birmingham Heartlands Hospital with fever and acute kidney injury after return from Borneo. We present a case of chronic posterior hip dislocation after severe joint destruction following septic arthritis. In the absence of trauma, infection must be considered in the differential diagnosis of a dislocated joint particularly in patients with risk factors such as intravenous drug abuse and immune compromise. Excision arthroplasty of the hip was performed with good pain relief and functional outcomes. This is an excellent temporary or permanent solution in managing such complex cases although alternative management options are discussed.

We present the case of two Australian tourists aged 25 and 26 years who, after immersion in a canal in Venice, developed severe leptospirosis. After a 1-week history of fever, headache, myalgia, and vomiting they developed jaundice and renal failure. Complete remission was achieved by antibiotic therapy and hemodialysis.
