Papillary carcinoma is the most common malignancy of the thyroid gland with initial lymphogenic metastatic spread in many cases. Hematogenous spread may affect the lung, bone and brain. Although hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common tumor, direct invasion of the gastrointestinal tract by HCC is uncommon. Recently, we encountered two cases of HCC with direct invasion to the colon. The first patient was a 79-year-old man who underwent transarterial chemo-embolization (TACE) for HCC 1.5 years prior to admission to our hospital. Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma is a variant of epidermoid carcinoma with a morphology consisting of both basaloid and squamous cell components. It is a high-grade tumour with a propensity for nodal and systemic metastases. In this report, we present the aggressive course of a basaloid squamous cell carcinoma of the maxillary sinus in a 28-year-old patient who died only four months after the initial diagnosis. We describe the unusual spread of the disease to the scalp, pancreas, kidney, adrenal gland, ovaries, lungs and bone marrow.

We report a fatal intoxication in a 59-year-old woman who had uremia undergoing hemodialysis, and then took amantadine and pramipexole for Parkinsonian tremor. Toxic manifestation includes myoclonus, ataxia, confusion and sudden death. This report highlights the fact that using amantadine and pramipexole may be fatal in patients with uremia even undergoing hemodialysis.

Almost all cancers can cause distant pleural metastases. However, pleural metastases of soft tissue sarcoma that constitute less than 1% of adult solid malignancy are extremely rare. It is very difficult to distinguish them form sarcomatous malignant mesothelioma on histopathological features. We report a 57 year-old man who presented to us with left chest pain and progressive dyspnea and was diagnosed to have a pleural metastases of soft tissue sarcoma by thoracoscopic biopsy.
