The authors presented hygienic evaluation of ambient air in various districts of Baku city with heavy metals--lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, copper and zinc. The metals contents of the air were assessed indirectly by their levels in soils of the areas under study. Findings are that soil levels of zinc, chromium and nickel exceeded those of the other metals by a degree. STUDY DESIGN: A case report defining an interventional procedure.
OBJECTIVES: To reveal the role of the ultrasonography in nerve blocks at difficult anatomical locations of the obturator nerve.
SETTING: The study was conducted in Ankara, Turkey.
METHODS: A paraplegic patient with lower limb adductor spasticity treated with phenol block using the guidance of ultrasonography.
RESULTS: After treatment of the adductor spasticity by obturator nerve block the patient achieved an upright standing position with a walker. Hygienic care was improved and spasticity-related pain was reduced.

Four clinical isolates of imipenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae were isolated from clinical patient specimens and from samples obtained from hygienic surveillance in our hospital. We examined their minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) to various types of antibiotics, detected the carbapenemases by a modified Hodge test and analyzed the genotype and homogeneity. The enzyme, Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC)-2, was detected in all four isolates and this was the main cause of their imipenem resistance. A review of the literature shows that 30-35 million travellers from industrialized nations annually visit a developing country where their incidence rate of symptomatic hepatitis A is 3 to 6 per 1000 per month of stay if they remain unprotected.
