PURPOSE OF REVIEW: The management of nasoethmoid or naso-orbito-ethmoid (NOE) fractures requires a thorough knowledge of the central facial anatomy, surgical techniques, available tools and patient factors to obtain optimal restoration of aesthetic form and function. This review article describes the current methods of NOE fracture diagnosis, classification, surgical techniques and complication management, with a review of the current literature published over the past 18 months.

PURPOSE: For more than 30 years, minimally invasive surgical procedures have been available to stabilize the fractured vertebrae by cement augmentation leading to significant pain relief, a distinct improvement in quality of life and decreased mortality for patients suffering from osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures. This overview article is designed to provide information on the wide range of augmentation methods previously tested and clinically applied in surgery in an attempt to compile the clinically relevant information on safety and efficacy in the published literature.

On review of past 10 years medical records, we could find four typical cases of porphyria with rare ocular manifestations. Cases 1, 2 and 4 have presented with features suggestive of acute scleritis. AIM: The authors report their experience with incisional hernia repair and set criteria for the safe performance of the procedure on a day hospital basis.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: From January 1994 to July 2005, 29 day hospital procedures for incisional hernia were performed under local anaesthesia. Selection criteria included: a hernial defect < 10 cm, a reducible hernial sac and negative history for obstructive symptoms. The repair was achieved with a polypropylene plug in defects < 3 cm and a double layer mesh in larger defects.

The titanium implant surface was sandblasted with large grits and acid etched (SLA) to increase the implant surface for osseointegration. METHODS: Tissues of vein, heart, liver, and kidney were obtained and pathologically observed from 30 rabbits whose central veins of the ears were retained with copper needles, and the concentration of Cu in serum was measured.
