Primary Multiple Simultaneous Intracerebral Hemorrhages between 1950 and 2013: Analysis of Data on Age, Sex and Outcome.

BACKGROUND: Primary multiple simultaneous intracerebral hemorrhages (MSICHs) are quite rare. Although occasional reports have been found, there have been no systematic reviews. The published case reports and case series contain overlapping data, leading to erroneous information about MSICHs. This is the first extensive review of accessible studies published in English on MSICHs. Our primary objective was to analyze the demographic data on age, sex, outcome and prognosis with regard to primary MSICHs. SUMMARY: A PubMed search without language restriction for articles with results from human st

Fat distribution, inflammatory mechanisms, and cardiovascular disease risk: mediation analysis based on the Framingham risk score.

OBJECTIVE: To examine the association between fat distribution and 10-year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk, and to evaluate the mediating roles of inflammatory markers in this relationship. METHODS: Data were obtained from the 2017-2018 cycle of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), including 4,741 participants aged ≥ 30 years. Fat distribution was assessed using body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and regional fat percentages (upper limbs, lower limbs, trunk, and total body) measured via dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA). The Framingham Risk Score

Comparative medico-legal analysis of falls from height injuries in adults and children: Patterns and predictors of mortality.

Falls from height (FFH) lead to significant morbidity and mortality in many countries. This study analyzed the characteristics of FFH and identified predictors of mortality. The study prospectively examined 67 patients: pediatric (56.7%) and adult (43.3%) patients following FFH. Childhood falls were entirely accidental and primarily occurred at home, mainly from balconies (55.3%) and rooftops (34.2%). In adults, FFH occurred mainly in occupational (58.6%) and accidental (24.1%) circumstances. Suicidal FFH was reported in only five cases, constituting 17.2% of adult FFH. In adults, falls from s

Gross and histopathological study of pituitary gland in cases of suicidal deaths: A case-control study.

INTRODUCTION: Suicide is a growing global concern, happening impulsively during moments of intense crisis. The pituitary gland, often referred to as the "master gland," plays a central role in regulating the body's hormones, particularly through the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which governs the stress response. HPA axis dysregulation can lead to structural and functional changes in the pituitary gland, and changes in this gland offer a meaningful pathological correlate in the forensic investigation of suicidal death. As published literature on this subject is scarce, especially

[Awareness of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for girls and boys in Germany-results of the LIEBESLEBEN study].

BACKGROUND: Despite the current recommendation of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination for girls and boys, vaccination rates in Germany remain low. Vaccination awareness is essential for vaccination behaviour and thus for an increase in vaccination rates. The aims of the present work were to investigate HPV vaccination awareness among the general population in Germany and to identify potential factors (sociodemographic, family and relationship characteristics, regional context) associated with HPV vaccination awareness. The results will help to conceptualize, manage, optimize and evaluate me

Pattern of pituitary gland injuries in fatal head injuries: A cross-sectional autopsy study.

BACKGROUND: Pituitary gland injury following traumatic brain injury (TBI) is an increasingly recognised but underdiagnosed complication with significant clinical and forensic implications. Morphological data from Asian autopsy series remain scarce. This study aimed to estimate the frequency and histopathological pattern of pituitary gland injuries in fatal head injury cases and to correlate these findings with associated craniocerebral injuries and post-injury survival time. METHODS: A cross-sectional autopsy study of 150 consecutive fatal head injury cases was conducted at a tertiary care fo
