Evaluation of deliverable artificial intelligence-based automated volumetric arc radiation therapy planning for whole pelvic radiation in gynecologic cancer.

This study aimed to develop a deep learning (DL)-based deliverable whole pelvic volumetric arc radiation therapy (VMAT) for patients with gynecologic cancer using a prototype DL-based automated planning support system, named RatoGuide, to evaluate its clinical validity. In our hospital, 110 patients with gynecologic cancer were registered. The prescribed dose was 50.4 Gy/28 fr. A DL-based three-dimensional dose prediction model was first trained by the dose distribution and structure data of whole pelvic VMAT (n = 100) created on the Monaco treatment planning system (TPS). The structure data o

Artificial intelligence strategies based on random forests for detecting ischemia-reperfusion injury changes in kidney tissue during intravital imaging.

This study presents a supervised machine learning approach using a Random Forest classifier to detect ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in kidney tissue based on intravital two-photon microscopy data. A rodent model of unilateral renal IRI was used, with 30 min of pedicle occlusion followed by 15 min of reperfusion. Continuous imaging captured nuclear (Hoechst 33342), vascular (FITC-dextran), and mitochondrial (TMRM) changes in real time. From extracted video frames, 2000 manually segmented regions of interest (ROIs), 1000 control and 1000 injured segments, were analyzed using texture analysis

Artificial intelligence for predicting post-excision recurrence and malignant progression in oral potentially malignant disorders: a retrospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Oral cancer may develop from precursor lesions and conditions termed oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMD), although not all patients progress to cancer in their lifetime. Managing patients with OPMD is challenging due to lesion recurrence and uncertain malignant progression risk following surgical excision. This study developed a multitask AI-based model to predict the risk of treatment failure, malignant progression, and recurrence among patients with OPMD treated by surgery. METHODS: This study utilized multidimensional data from 366 retrospective patients with OPMD treat

Investigating the role of molecular coating in human corneal endothelial cell primary culture using artificial intelligence-driven image analysis.

The monolayer of approximately 300,000 human corneal endothelial cells (hCECs) on the posterior surface of the cornea is essential to maintain transparency but is non-self-regenerative. Corneal blindness can currently only be treated by corneal transplantation, hindered by a global donor shortage, highlighting the need for developing tissue and/or cell therapy. The mass production of these advanced therapy medicinal products requires obtaining high-yield, high-quality endothelial cell cultures characterized by hexagonal shape, low size variability, and high endothelial cell density (ECD). Predicting prolonged length of in-hospital stay in patients with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) using artificial intelligence.

BACKGROUND: Patients presenting with non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) are typically evaluated using coronary angiography and managed through coronary revascularization. Numerous studies have demonstrated the benefits of expedited discharge following revascularization in this patient population. However, individuals with concomitant heart failure, hemodynamic instability, or arrhythmias often necessitate prolonged hospitalization. Using aortic pressure (AP) wave assessment, we aim to predict a prolonged length of stay (> 4 days, PLoS) in patients with NSTEMI treated with percutan
