A healthy corneal endothelium is required for corneal clarity. Both the glaucoma disease state and its various forms of treatment can have adverse effects on the corneal endothelium. Both the presence of glaucoma and the magnitude of intraocular pressure elevation are related to endothelial cell loss (ECL). PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: To determine endothelial cell loss rate after penetrating keratoplasty. To determine for low long this rate remain high.
MATERIAL AND METHOD: We have three groups of patients. First group consists of 15 patients without ophthalmic pathology. The second group consists of 15 patients, after cataract surgery. The Third group consists of 20 patients after penetrating keratoplasty, 10 of them with edematous keratoplasty and 10 with keratoconus or central leucoma. The relationship of mast cells, nerves and fibrosis was studied in 50 cases of Appendix using simple histochemical technique. In the mucosa, the mast cell number was greater in the early stages of fibrosis. Both in the mucosa and submucosa mast cells were found closely associated with neural tissue. As the fibrosis increased this association between mast cells and neural tissue was retained only in the submucosa.

The influence of bilateral gonadectomy on the secretory segments of the partoid gland in male rats was investigated. The changes in the section area of cell nuclei, secretory cells, serous vesicles as well as in the mean number of cells in the vesicles were statistically analyzed. Eleven-day gonadectomy caused a statistically significant increase of the mean section area of cell nuclei, secretory vesicles and cells. Eight-day mesterone treatment in the dose of 2 mg/kg of body mass does not eliminate the changes caused by gonadectomy but results in the further increase of the mean section area

Mast cells were counted in 122 patients with psoriasis and 80 healthy volunteers, at different times after scratch from 30 min up to 14 days. Koebner's phenomenon was induced in 74% of patients with active disease (63/85) and in 37.5% with stationary psoriasis (6/16). Langerhans' cells (LCs) appear to be altered in diseases that express a depressed cellular immune response. We measured the density of LCs in the skin of patients with the disseminated form of paracoccidioidomycosis. The study was performed using adenosine triphosphatase staining of epidermal sheets. A continuous labelling technique was employed to study the effects of external beta-radiation on the proliferation of endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells in the mesenteric arterioles of mice.
