An antitachycardia pulse generator, the Intermedics Intertach 262-12 was implanted in 16 patients (14 patients with supraventricular tachycardia of various origins and two patients with recurrent ventricular tachycardia), who were not responsive to various antiarrhythmic drug regimens. In the present study 28 Arcanobacterium pluranimalium strains isolated from various origins could successfully be identified with a newly designed loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay based on gene pla encoding pluranimaliumlysin. No comparable reaction could be observed with control strains representing five species of genus Arcanobacterium and five species of genus Trueperella. The presented pla LAMP assay might allow a reliable and low cost identification of this bacterial pathogen also in laboratories with less specified equipment.

Entrapment of equipment during coronary angiography is an uncommon but serious complication of invasive coronary procedures. Percutaneous extraction of trapped material is the accepted method of treatment. This case report is a description of the extraction of a diagnostic catheter retained as a result of collapsing into an O-shape in the right common iliac artery while trying to engage the tip of the catheter with the right coronary ostium. This rationale and unique wire-balloon method, requiring no specifically designed device, can be simply and safely performed in similar cases.
