The purpose of the present study was to demonstrate the various applications of the laparoscopic surgery in the field of gynecology. 40 patients who were submitted to laparoscopic surgery were studied and divided into 5 groups accordingly to the surgical procedure: adhesiolysis, surgery of ovarian tumors, hysterectomy, surgery of the Fallopian tube and myomectomy. We present a retrospective study of a series of 46 patients who have benefited from a laparoscopic treatment for a distal tubal disease. The results have been expressed in terms of tubulars and adherentiels scores, of the type of plastic effected and of the sterility (pure tubular sterility or associated). Six consecutive patients with sactosalpinx after preceding hysterectomy were treated by laparoscopic surgery and the outcome was analysed. Irrespective of extensive intraabdominal adhesions the operation could be completed by laparoscopy and the sactosalpinx was successfully removed in all cases. No complications were observed. Operative laparoscopy may be an adequate procedure to remove a sactosalpinx after antecedent hysterectomy.

From 1987 to 1990 pelvioscopic distal salpingostomy was performed in 47 patients at the University Hospital of Kiel. Two patients who had urinary fistulas after laparoscopic hysterectomy are described. In both cases the ureters were dissected free and the uterus was freed laparoscopically. Injury to the urinary tract occurred during transvaginal closure of the vaginal cuff. Preventative strategies are discussed.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate a practical classification system of hysterosalpingogram (HSG) results that accurately identifies patients with severe pelvic disease or a normal pelvis to allow appropriate patient counseling of therapeutic options.

As there are little data in the radiologic literature regarding the CT appearance of and the associated findings of tuboovarian abscesses (TOA), we retrospectively reviewed CT from seven patients with nine TOAs. They were bilateral in two patients and unilateral in the remaining five. The prevalence of tubal pregnancy has increased markedly during the past decade. The reasons for this are obscure. A systematic gross and histopathologic study of 25 consecutive ectopic pregnancies has been performed using a clearing method not used previously for this purpose. During the five years ending on December 31, 1981, 159 anovulatory and oligomenorrheic patients were treated with clomiphene citrate for induction of ovulation. Overall, 86% of these patients ovulated, and 49% of the patients who ovulated conceived.
