Bromidrosis is a condition of abnormal offensive body odor caused mostly by apocrine gland secretion from the axilla. Although no morbid sequelae are known, the odor can be disturbing enough to cause social impairment and psychological distress. Medical care is available but is temporary and yields limited clinical benefit. Surgical treatment may provide a more definite remedy through reduction of the apocrine gland. Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma is a rare cutaneous lesion. Histologically it is characterized by the proliferation of eccrine glands, vascular structures and occasionally other elements in the middle and deep dermis; we now report seven further cases of this condition, two with lipomatous involvement and also discuss its nosology.

We report a case of papillary eccrine adenoma. This benign cutaneous tumour had a diagnostic microscopic appearance that consisted of multiple dilated ducts lined by two or more layers of cells. The inner layer often formed intraluminal papillary projections of variable complexity. The lumina were filled by eosinophilic amorphous material. Immunoperoxidase studies showed carcino-embryonic antigen in the luminal border of the ducts, but S-100 protein was absent for tumoral ducts. We discuss the eccrine and apocrine differentiation of this neoplasm on the basis of the immunoperoxidase results. T

Clinical assessment of 134 patients with hidradenitis suppurativa revealed clinical evidence supporting an androgen-based endocrine disorder underlying the condition. Experience with six patients with severe acne and associated axial and peripheral arthritis is described. Two hundred human breasts removed for clinical cancer by radical mastectomy were analyzed to determine whether apocrine metaplasia and apocrine cysts have predilective sites in the four mammary quadrants. Four cases of tumours arising from Moll's glands, two benign mixed tumours of the skin (chondroid syringomas) and two adenocarcinomas, are reported. Three of the patients were over 40 years old. Contrary to the common assumption that malignant Moll's gland tumours are of low-grade malignancy, the two adenocarcinomas described here were highly malignant. Despite vigorous treatment, including orbital exenteration and lymph node resection, one was rapidly fatal and the other recurred with extensive involvement of the paranasal sinuses.

Influence of blood pressure levels on the prevalence of symptoms was studied in a group of 1771 untreated hypertensive patients referred to the Saint-Joseph Hypertension Clinic in Paris. Information on symptoms was obtained from a standardized physician-conducted interview during the patient's first visit at the Outpatient Clinic. The most frequent symptoms were headaches (40.5 p. 100), palpitations (28.5 p. 100), nocturia (20.4 p. 100) and dizziness (20.8 p. 100). Steatocystoma simplex, an entity not previously described, to my knowledge, occurred in 16 women and 14 men. Eleven cysts were situated on the face, six on the limbs, and five on the chest. This is the first case report of bilateral naevus comedonicus seen in a pair of twins in Singapore. 3 other family members were similarly affected. Though both sexes were affected, there were more males affected as compared to females. Recent reports support a familial inheritance. Our pedigree showed an autosomal dominant inheritance. The extensive involvement seen in the twins suggest that they may be homozygous for this condition.
