OBJECTIVE: We report that a 4-year-old boy presented with right unilateral complete cleft lip and palate, right anophthalmos, left congenital nystagmus, absence of the vomer bone, mental-motor retardation, and normal lymphocyte karyotype (46, XY).

We describe an infant with a unique pattern of midline defects, including anophthalmia, cleft lip and palate, macrocephaly, cutis aplasia, and micrognathia. CNS anomalies including massive hydrocephalus with destruction of most recognizable structures were observed. The infant also developed panhypopituitarism, diabetes insipidus, and a seizure disorder. We postulate that this patient could represent a more complex form of the Delleman syndrome or a new morphogenetic syndrome secondary to ventral induction with extension to the developmental fields of the first and second branchial arches.

This case report presents a patient with bilateral complete cleft lip and palate with a severely deviated and rotated premaxilla. The infant was treated with a combination of lip taping and presurgical lip, alveolus, and nose approximation (PLANA) therapy for 3 months before primary lip and nose repair. Derotation and centering of the premaxilla was accomplished using a "Lasso" elastic band system, facilitating PLANA therapy. This treatment protocol promoted an esthetic lip and nose repair, while minimizing soft tissue tension and avoiding a surgical premaxillary setback.

Lip augmentation (LA) procedures can cause complications such as edema, erythema, and pain. Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) has been indicated as a promissory alternative therapy. We evaluated different PBMT protocols on the management of its complications.
