OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of ossicular reconstruction with partial ossicular replacement prosthesis (PORP) in patients with tympanosclerosis.
METHODS: The data of 31 cases of tympanosclerosis treated between 1992 and 2009 were reviewed. Of the 31 patients, 17 (17 ears) underwent ossicular reconstruction with porous macromolecular polyethylene PORP, and 14 (14 ears) with bioceramic PORP. All the patients were followed up for 3-24 months.

CASE REPORT: We report on two patients with different types of keratoprostheses. An 88-year-old woman with ocular pemphigoid received in 1970 a bilateral osteo-odonto-keratoprosthesis (Strampelli). Use of occluder devices for a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) closure is restricted to small diameter PDAs and involves high device costs. The objective of this study was to develop a new nitinol implant for the closure of a PDA and to evaluate its safety and efficacy in an animal model. OBJECTIVE: Airway stenoses have been a significant cause of morbidity and mortality after lung transplantation. We reviewed our 11-year experience with dilatation and silicone stent treatment of airway strictures after lung transplantation. We adopted this approach after managing the complications of nitinol/wire mesh stents, including stent fracture, granulation tissue overgrowth, and difficulty with removal.
