Highly efficient recovery of molybdenum from spent catalyst by an optimized process.

Disposal of spent catalyst in an economical and green way has become a great concern for industrial production. We developed a process including acid leaching, solvent extraction and stripping in order to recycle spent catalyst. In this study, we conducted selective recovery of molybdenum through focus on finding an optimized extraction and stripping process by comparing different extractants and stripping agents. To separate molybdenum from other metals efficiently and figure out the mechanism of extraction process, the five different extractants of methyl trioctyl ammonium chloride, tri-n-oc

A systematic review and economic model of switching from non-glycopeptide to glycopeptide antibiotic prophylaxis for surgery.

OBJECTIVES: To determine whether there is a level of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) prevalence at which a switch from non-glycopeptide to glycopeptide antibiotics for routine prophylaxis is indicated in surgical environments with a high risk of MRSA infection. DATA SOURCES: Major electronic databases were searched up to September 2005. REVIEW METHODS: The effectiveness review included controlled clinical trials comparing a glycopeptide with an alternative antibiotic regimen that reported effectiveness and/or adverse events. Controlled observational studies were also inclu

The work and vocational advice intervention for adults in full or part-time employment: a synopsis of the WAVE feasibility study and RCT.

BACKGROUND: Accessible occupational health advice is only available to approximately half the United Kingdom population. With rising sickness absence new models for delivering occupational health are required to support employees with health conditions to manage their condition at work. AIM: To determine, in patients consulting in general practice who receive a fit note, whether the addition of a vocational advice intervention to usual primary care leads to fewer days lost from work, and whether vocational advice is cost-effective. DESIGN: Intervention development: Training development using

Transportability Analyses in Comparative Effectiveness Research: A Conceptual Framework and Methodological Principles Endorsed by the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology.

THE PROBLEM: Transportability considerations are increasingly important to answer research questions in comparative effectiveness research (CER) to support the transfer of evidence on medicinal products across countries or settings. As drug development costs rise and healthcare systems and professionals face economic and resource pressures, leveraging existing data and evidence generated across borders or settings can improve efficiency and inform decisions in product development and decision-making (regulatory, health technology assessment [HTA] and clinical care). Differences in population c

High Carbon Dioxide Concentration Inhibits Pileus Growth of Flammulina velutipes by Downregulating Cyclin Gene Expression.

Flammulina velutipes is a widely cultivated edible mushroom in East Asia, recognized for its nutritional benefits and distinct morphology characterized by a long stipe and a compact, hemispherical pileus. The pileus not only plays a critical biological role in reproduction through spore formation but also serves as a key commercial trait influencing consumer preference and market value. Despite its economic importance, pileus development in F. velutipes is highly sensitive to environmental factors, among which carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration is particularly influential under indoor cultivat

How does post COVID differ from other post-viral conditions in childhood and adolescence (0-20 years old)? A systematic review.

BACKGROUND: Post Coronavirus disease (COVID) and other post-viral infection syndromes present an overlap of pathogenesis, onset, progression, and symptom profile. We aimed to systematically describe studies on post-viral conditions and determine the entity of post COVID compared to other post-viral conditions in children. METHODS: We conducted a systematic search of the Embase, MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and GoogleScholar databases (January 1946-3 November 2023), according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The main outcomes were dif

Two-Dimensional (2D) materials in the detection of SARS-CoV-2.

The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has resulted in a devastating effect on human health in the last three years. While tremendous effort has been devoted to the development of effective treatment and vaccines against SARS-CoV-2 and controlling the spread of it, collective health challenges have been encountered along with the concurrent serious economic impacts. Since the beginning of the pandemic, various detection methods like PCR-based methods, isothermal nucleic acid amplification-based (INAA) methods, serological methods or antibody tests, and evaluation of X-ray chest results have been exploited to

The relationship between residential proximity to outdoor play spaces and children's mental and behavioral health: The importance of neighborhood socio-economic characteristics.

Urban outdoor play spaces are reported to improve children's health. However, there is little empirical evidence on the impact of outdoor play spaces on childhood mental and behavioral health. To fill this gap, we investigated the associations between residential proximity to outdoor play spaces and the prevalence of diagnosed mental and behavioral disorders. We explored whether these associations differ by individual and area-level socio-economic status (SES). This cross-sectional study included 151 110 children who were 0-12 years old in 2014 and were visited in public primary health care ce

Setting priorities in child health research in India for 2016-2025: a CHNRI exercise undertaken by the Indian Council for Medical Research and INCLEN Trust.

BACKGROUND: Millennium Development Goal 4 (MDGs) mobilised countries to reduce child mortality by two thirds the 1990 rate in 2015. While India did not reach MDG 4, it considerably reduced child mortality in the MDG-era. Efficient and targeted interventions and adequate monitoring are necessary to further progress in improvements to child health. Looking forward to the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)-era, the Indian Council of Medical Research and The INCLEN Trust International conducted a national research priority setting exercise for maternal, child, newborn health, and maternal and chil

Protocol for the systematic review of the prevention, treatment and public health management of impetigo, scabies and fungal skin infections in resource-limited settings.

BACKGROUND: Impetigo, scabies, and fungal skin infections disproportionately affect populations in resource-limited settings. Evidence for standard treatment of skin infections predominantly stem from hospital-based studies in high-income countries. The evidence for treatment in resource-limited settings is less clear, as studies in these populations may lack randomisation and control groups for cultural, ethical or economic reasons. Likewise, a synthesis of the evidence for public health control within endemic populations is also lacking. We propose a systematic review of the evidence for the

Measuring minds across generations: a theoretical framework on psychometric validity, interpretive frameworks, and contextual norming in cross-cohort psychological research.

BACKGROUND: Psychological research increasingly compares mental health outcomes across generations, with studies reporting elevated anxiety and depression in Generation Z and Alpha. Current instruments, interpretive frameworks, and normative standards were developed using language and contextual assumptions from earlier cohorts developing in distinct technological, economic, and social ecosystems. AIM: This Hypothesis and Theory article proposes to (i) evaluate measurement validity and interpretive framework issues in cross-generational research, (ii) analyze how contexts shape construct mean

Cost effective industrial scale synthesis of bromo-benzo[b]azepinone: an intermediate for benazepril.

Benazepril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, is widely prescribed for the management of hypertension and heart failure. The cost and efficiency of its production are strongly influenced by the synthesis of a key intermediate, 3-bromo-4,5-dihydro-1H-benzo[b]azepin-2(3H)-one. Conventional synthetic routes often involve multiple steps, high raw material consumption and extensive solvent use, which limit scalability and compromise environmental sustainability. To develop a streamlined, cost-effective and greener synthesis of Bromo-benzo[b]azepinone Intermediate for Benazepril that

Post-surgical Comparison of Volumetric Analysis in Orbital Fractures with Conventional and Advanced Management.

BACKGROUND: Pelvic floor dysfunction is a disorder predominantly affecting females. It is common and undermines the quality of lives of at least one-third of adult women and is a growing component of women's health care needs. Identifying and supporting these needs is a major public health issue with a strong psychosocial and economic basis. The importance of the interdependence of mechanical, neural, endocrine and environmental factors in the development of pelvic floor dysfunction is well recognized. There is a paucity of data investigating the true prevalence, incidence, specific risk facto

Exploring the causal relationship between plasma proteins and obstructive sleep apnea: a study using genome-wide Mendelian randomization, single-cell RNA sequencing analysis, and network pharmacology.

Observational studies suggest that plasma proteins play a crucial role in the development and progression of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA); however, the causal relationship between plasma proteins and OSA remains controversial. This study conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the causal relationships between 4,907 plasma proteins and OSA by employing bidirectional Mendelian randomization (MR) analysis, network pharmacology strategies, and single-cell sequencing techniques. The plasma protein data used in this study were derived from Ferkingstad et al.'s research (n = 35,559), and OSA-related

Transcriptome analysis reveals the pathogenesis of spontaneous tibial dyschondroplasia in broilers.

Tibial dyschondroplasia (TD) is a severe bone disease that affects fast-growing broiler chickens and causes economic loss. Despite previous studies, the regulatory mechanism of TD remains unclear and is thought to be primarily based on thiram induction, which may differ from that of naturally occurring diseases. To better understand TD, a digital X-ray machine was used in the present study to determine its incidence in four hundred yellow-feathered broiler chickens. The results showed that the incidence of TD was 22% after 6 weeks and gradually decreased after 8 and 10 weeks. The body weight o

The molecular regulation mechanism of dmrt1-based on the establishment of the testis cell line derived from two-spot puffer Takifugu bimaculatus.

The establishment of fish cell lines can provide an important in vitro model for developmental biology, pathology, and genetics and also an effective tool to investigate the interactions and related functions of genes. Two-spot puffer Takifugu bimaculatus is a high economic and nutritional value marine fish in Fujian in recent years. Nevertheless, dmrt1 plays a key role in the male differentiation from invertebrates to vertebrates. To understand the molecular regulatory mechanisms of dmrt1 in T. bimaculatus, a testis cell line called TBTc from a juvenile testis of this organism was established
