We analysed the postoperative position of the patella and the degenerative changes in 80 implanted Guepar, Tillmann and GSB-prostheses of the knee. We did not found differences between the types of endoprostheses. We saw many dislocations of the patella, especially in patients with rheumatism, but only some patients had trouble with the operated knee. We can diminish these problems by modelling of the patella and by careful reconstruction of the muscle strength.

Synovial cysts of various joints and tendon sheaths (knee, elbow, hip, proximal interphalangeal joints are well known. In most patients with long-standing injuries of ligaments of the knee joint there develops a deforming arthrosis. So, the operative techniques of recovering their stability must be at most sparing. The author thinks the use of "closed" methods of plasty of the ligaments to be expedient. He has elaborated two new methods of operations which were recognized as inventions. Operations were made on 47 patients with good results observed up to 3.5 years.

Five children from three unrelated families were born with symmetrical contractures of the knees, ankles and feet. The role of the orthodontist in the diagnosis and specially in the active treatment of the patients with locking is very important. In the present study, after the analysis of the most frequent etiologic factors, are presented the diagnostic fundamental components of the dysfunction. Furthermore, are illustrated, with some consequent, the therapeutic steps of the orthopedic approach, the occlusal emergency splint, the orthodontic treatment, in order to obtain the occlusal stability in the new interarches relationship.

The authors describe the usage of thermovisual investigation for diagnostic and treatment control purposes in patients with the temporomandibular joint pathology. In chronic arthritis exacerbations, traumatic arthritis and arthroses the joint thermographic images are different. Thermometry was performed at distinct points of parotidmusticulatory, submandibular and cervical regions. Normal and pathological thermal gradients were found between symmetrical facial sites.

A retrospective study of 106 patients who underwent temporomandibular joint surgery for meniscal dysfunction was conducted. The patients were evaluated by tomography and arthrography of the temporomandibular joint and abnormalities of the hard and soft tissue structures were determined by these investigations and compared directly with the findings at surgical examination. Scout tomograms and arthrograms of 243 patients were separated and numbered. The location of the condyle within the fossa in the closed-mouth position was assessed by means of three evaluation techniques. Later, the arthrograms were interpreted and matched with the corresponding tomograms to evaluate the relationship between posterior displacement of the condyle and anterior displacement of the articular disk. The position of the disk within the fossa was found to be extremely variable whether disk position was normal or abnormal.

Sonography is a useful tool for the examination of the shoulder joint. Concomitant cartilaginous and soft tissue lesions (Hill-Sachs, effusion, cuff-tears) can be visualized. Subacromial pathology can be differentiated. The type of instability in the unstable shoulder can be documented. The ultrasound investigation is of diagnostic value for the unstable shoulder as well as for the impingement shoulder in athletes. Therefore it may be helpful for planning the adequate treatment and also for the follow up of the patients.
