Thirty-five cases of congenital lenticular dislocation seen in our Center since 1985 have been studied and analyzed clinically. By the survey of pedigrees and examination of these patients, including ocular, systemic, skeletal X-ray, psychocardiogram, and urinary sodium-nitroprusside test, 21 cases were diagnosed as Marfan's syndrome, 6 cases as simple ectopia lentis, 3 cases as Weill-Marchesani's syndrome, 4 cases as aniridia and 1 case as homecys tinuria. In 359 glaucoma patients (600 eyes), we measured the peripheral field with kinetic targets and the central 30 degrees field of vision with static testing, using the Field-master-5000 automated perimeter to evaluate the prevalence and significance of step-like visual-field defects along the vertical midline (a hemianopic offset). In all, 129 eyes of 121 patients had a hemianopic offset. Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule (DSCAM) is an immunoglobulin-superfamily cell-adhesion molecule important for neuronal survival, morphogenesis, synaptic specificity, and particularly retinal organization. Pathogenic variants in Dscam have been linked to developmental disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome (DS), developmental delays and intellectual disabilities. Here we work to better understand the link between morphology and function in the nervous system by assessing the effects of Dscam mutations on both visual and ASD-relevant social interaction behaviors.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Individuals with downbeat nystagmus (DBN) syndrome present with DBN, dizziness, blurred vision, and unsteady gait. Pharmacological intervention with 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) may be effective in improving oculomotor function, but there is minimal evidence to date that it improves gait. INTRODUCTION: Ocular symptoms are uncommon manifestations of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection. Earlier study reported that dry eye, blurred vision, foreign body sensation, tearing, itching, conjunctival secretion, conjunctival congestion, ocular pain, and photophobia are among the ocular symptoms that could be found in COVID-19 patients.
